This place has hands down one of the best food in all of South Paterson.
If you want homemade style, flavorful and well seasoned food, this is the spot. But if you want an experience with great service, this is not the spot lol. Pros and cons.
Nonetheless I’d still rate a solid 8/10 overall!!
• Lamb Kabsa was good 7/10 rice was a little sweet, but the meat was sooo tender and flavorful.
• Fahsa Meat was by far the best part of the meal, 9/10 absolutely delicious!
• Chicken maqalqal was great 8.5/10 scrumptious and well seasoned
• Hummus was good and authentic 8/10

The food item I wanna talk most about is the Masouba Cream & Banana desert. It was absolutely delicious. We had some other dinner items that were also delicious, but this desert item was so good, I’m focusing on it more. They also provide you with free soup upon entry and they also have free coffee. Definitely a very good experience.

Keeping it 100% honest:
If you’re coming for the food: 10/10
Service: 7/10

We were a group of 3 hungry guys, and we ordered the fahsha lamb, lamb kabsa, hummus, and chicken muqqaqal. The fahsha lamb was 10/10. If you’re a desi person, it’s very similar to a lamb curry that’s served in a hot mortar bowl. They give 3 GIANT pita breads to eat with, and the meat was packed with flavor and soooo tender.

The chicken muqqaqal is like a Yemen style fajita where you can eat it with the pita, rice, or just plain. It has spice and a tomato-y taste. 8.5/10

The hummus was standard. Not bad, but not the best. Definitely would get again as an appetizer 8/10.

The lamb kabsa was super tender. Packed with flavor. I was hoping for the rice to be spicier, but it was a littttleee bit on the sweeter side. The lamb’s smokiness helped counteract it. 8/10 (if you add the lamb fahsha, it elevates the flavors to 9/10).

One thing I LOVED about this place was the tea that was available as soon as you walk in. Nice and warm- sweet with a touch of cinnamon. AMAZING!!!

We come to Yemen Land Restaurant almost every week with the whole family—this place is the real deal for authentic Yemeni food. Our go-to dishes are the Lamb Mandi and Lamb Haneeth, and they’re consistently excellent. The owner and staff are genuinely warm, attentive, and detail-oriented. Highly recommended.

I am a Spanish (El Salvadoran ) Truck Driver and right now i am working and i do not look presentable . I felt a little shy to go inside. But the people who work here made me feel welcomed and i felt so comfortable!!! They treated me very nice .

The food : the best food i ever had . It was so good every time i took a bite my legs felt weak! It was so good i had to lean back on the chair . It was soooo good i felt sleepy after eating. After this i am going in my truck and going to sleep. I definitely recommend this place. You will have a great peaceful time here and the food is something I cannot describe.

I just updated from 4 star to 5 star because a woman came to beg for money with a child (pan handle) and the manager gave her food before turning her away. That was so kind of the owners. Most owners just kick them out. As this is Paterson and it’s a common problem. I would have ordered her food but they took care of her and her child . So so kind of owner/ manager

We had 2 lamb mandi and 2 haneesee
Portion are huge. Meat is so so soft and rice is cooked perfectly. Soup and salad and bread are free. We also had fasolia kidney beans in sauce it was delicious right out of the hot oven plate.

Atmosphere is family friendly no alcohol and halal meat. Staff is friendly and accommodating but they couldn’t tell us which plate was the Mandi and which was the haneese … other than that they are friendly and welcoming. Bread is so soft delicious too.. they have 2 kinds of bread both are delicious but I prefer the one with the black seeds

First and last experience having iftar (break fasting at Ramadan) in this restaurant. Food is good but the service was ZERO. Their place feel so cold inside probably because no heater available.
I made a reservation for 2 person by calling them about 1.30 pm. At 3.30 pm they call me back asking what food that i want to eat and I explained to them that because this will be my first visit so I want to order on the spot. I also explained to them that i will be there quite long enough so they can serve my order on time. I arrived at 5 pm – while iftar about 5.56 pm – and order 2 lamb haneeth + 1 salad. When azan came they still didn’t serve anything. After wait about 10 minutes they serve kurma and bottle water without food. We still need to wait about 15 minutes until they came with 1 plate of lamb haneeth. They said sorry because they are late in serving our order and as a compliment the serve lamb fahsah for free. At that time they didnt say that they will not cook another 1 lamb hanneth so we agree to take that fahsah. But then after waiting almost 20 minutes I ask for my order and they said they need another 20 minutes to cook. We still think possitive and agreed to wait. Another 20 minutes passed and we asked the second time and they still give the same answer: need another 20 minutes to cook. It means that they didnt cook my order and didnt have any good intentions to cook as well. They give free fahsah and “push” us to eat something that we didnt want to order and expecting that we will not complaning. We cant wait any longer so we cancel it.
We waste almost 1 hour because the waiter being so tricky by lying to us. If they were being informative and honest telling us that they cant serve our order and offering some other options we will not feel regret like this. This is not about the free food but this is about attitude.
Most important thing is as a muslim i feel so embarrassed to see what they did. They were being tricky and cheating their customer in this holy month.

I went to this restaurant reading all the good reviews with a high hope. The table we sat in was moving so they transferred us to another table next to the bathroom and it was not a good place as the smell from bathroom was coming out.
We ordered Chicken Kabsa, Lamb Haneeth, Hummus and yogurt with cucumber. The kabsa was not in their menu but when I asked them they said they could make it. It was extremely oily and tasted kind of like biryani. The amount was also very little and the chicken had a bad smell. The lamb haneeth was ok, nothing special. Haneeth meat supposed to be more tender. The cucumbers were cut into big pieces and just added with a yogurt that tasted so bad. I regretted ordering it. Compared to the price it was not worth it at all. The hummus was too thick. The food was not warm enough. The only thing I liked was the soup and tea. We spent $80+ and very disappointed with the food and service.

Asked for a bottle of water to the person who took our order but he forgot to bring it and we had to ask another person for water. I’m sorry but I do not recommend this restaurant.

I regret NOT visiting and dining at this place any sooner. It’s a hidden gem I would say. The food was sumptuous, appealing and appetizing at the same time. It’s the best food I’ve had in ages since coming to the USA. The moment I had the first morsel from the Zurbian lamb, it took me down the memory lane… ahhhh god!!! the food just tasted amazing. Fresh food and nostalgia guaranteed!!! Enjoy your food and stay blessed.
