Came across this place searching Google for a good breakfast cafe. This place is so under the radar I didn’t even know of its existence, even though I’ve lived in the area for over a decade. When I drove up, I didn’t see any signage at all and wondered if the place had gone out of business. But I saw a glowing “Open” sign so thought I’d see.
This place is more of a coffee bistro than a full restaurant. That said, they do make some very good crepes. I had one with turkey, spinach and tomato–quite tasty.
The cafe has little decor and very basic metal seats. It is essentially self-serve: You order your crepe, but other than utensils, any other things, such as salt and pepper, are kept on a shelf at the rear. Soda is delivered in a can–I was very disappointed that the restaurant in the eclectic Uptown didn’t recycle.
Other reviews of the place show it has good food, so if you are craving a crepe, especially one with some sweetness (I’m not a big fan of sweet so ordered the only crepe that didn’t have something sweet in or on it), this place is one you should check out.
The crepe was $15.50, which I thought pricey until I saw it. For a single diner, I’d advise ordering the mini at $3 less.

Loved my chai. Had great flavor and perfect amount of sweet. Crepes were super underwhelming. Flavors lacked. We ordered breakfast in bed and lemon strawberry. I wouldn’t order crepes again but will come back for drinks. Lots of great seating and staff was friendly.

Went in for a Saturday morning brunch. The staff were kind and helpful, but there wasn’t enough people on shift the handle the crowd. The food and drinks were delicious though, just bring a good book and be prepared to wait.

They have vegan options! The black bean savory crepe was pretty good. It was more of a different experience than anything. The service was very friendly, but it did take quite a while to get our order. It was a Saturday morning, so understandably busy.

First time here really. The inside was clean and nicely decorated. My fiancée got the breakfast in bed crepe and I got the monthly special, peaches and creame. Both were very tasty. The only issue there seemed to be was when they delivered our order in a to-go-bag my order seemed to be missing. After I took it up with the manager (maybe the owner) it was corrected and I was given a complementary card for a free lemon and sugar crepe on my next visit. Looking forward to my next visit, thanks!

A missed opportunity .
I should’ve looked at the menu online before ordering, so this is partially my fault.
Arrived and told the lady behind the counter that it was our first time there. 3 of the 4 menus were working. All of the specialty coffees were hidden. The person behind the counter should’ve probably mentioned the missing items. I didn’t even think anything of it until I started hearing them call out other drinks.
We ordered crepes and coffees. I ended up ordering a basic white chocolate mocha. My wife ordered a red bull, and what was supposed to be 2 shots with cream that ended up being a latte. As for the crepes, they looked delicious but were also disappointing. I ordered the strawberry lemon, which you couldn’t even tell there was lemon in it, if there was. She ordered a strawberry Nutella, which, in my opinion, had way too much Nutella, but that’s just me.
I’ll give this place another shot, just not right away.

Visited Kagen for crepes and coffee on a Friday morning. We got 2 different crepes, a sweet with lemon filling and a savory with gravy and bacon in it. The sweet crepe was pretty good nothing more than that and was a VERY small portion, especially for the price. The savory crepe was a better portion size but was also nothing to write home about. The saving grace was the coffee which was on the sweeter side but was great overall. The one other thing that I did not enjoy was that there was food on most of the tables and seats and that may not be the norm but it was noticeable that it wasn’t as clean as most places. All in all this was an okay experience but the price of about $30 for 2 crepes and a coffee guarantees I’ll be looking elsewhere the next time I go for brunch.

Edit… today was dissappointing. Our Monte Cristos were the size minis, with no powdered sugar on top. Very minimal filling.
The chicken & spinach had about 2 Tbspoons of cheese. Didnt even want to finish it. Normally both of these crepes have a melty, cheesy filling, but today they were not up to the standards we usually get at Kagens. Normally do not like to write negative reviews, but thought maybe it would help someone else avoid this situation.
This coffee drink is soooooooo yummy…iced white chocolate raspberry sub oat milk, 20 ozs. You have to try it.
My fave is mini or half crepe… the chicken, spinach, and cheese with pesto on the side. I love their pesto so much! Super yummy. Came here with hubby , so glad we did. His fave & now my kiddo’s fave as well, is the Monte Cristo, it comes with a side of raspberry jam. Will come back again & again. The atmosphere, the music, lovely. Super friendly employees. Love this place!
