HISTORY OF THE YE OLDE PLANK INN 24 PALM AVENUE, IMPERIAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA The building, 24 Palm Avenue, has been around since 1886. The area by the beach was the location of the horse stables and loading area for the supplies used to build the Hotel Del Coronado. Remember, Coronado was an island until the Army Corps of Engineers built the Silver Strand in 1924. The building has 4 addresses, 24, 26, 28 and 30 Palm Avenue. Over the years, the building has housed numerous businesses. These businesses include Russo Market, Millers Market, Patio 24 and one of the first Surfboard Showrooms in Southern California in the early 1950’s.
Beachfront cocktail bar serves up standard drinks in a laid-back space with eclectic tiki-bar decor.

Great location! Steps away from the beach! This bar has 2 pool tables, great prices, and lots of outdoor seating.
I came here with a couple of friends while we were in town for the USTA national championships. We went to the beach here and grabbed some drinks. The bartender was very nice. We signed a $1 bill and put it up above the bar with the hundreds of others.
We had our drinks outside. It was a gorgeous day. Some people had their dogs and we were able to visit with them.
It’s a super casual, laid back place to hang out with friends.

Never ever go here. The new owners vanessa is very rude. She preys on all the old men for tips and then keeps them even though she’s part owner. It’s quite disgusting. She raised all the prices as well her husband’s always drunk in the bar will not go back here we asked her for food after the advertised they serve food she refused to make it she is so lazy it’s too bad we would have spent a lot of money there

I go in before my bike ride around Coronado on Sunday mornings. I get the .25 coffee and a $5.00 Bloody Mary on the way back. The morning bar tender always has a wonderful attitude and does an awesome job. Great atmosphere and good people.

We had a drink here yesterday and it was nice and casual….a very laid back atmosphere. It was exactly what we were hoping for when we walked in. The bouncer was polite and friendly and the bartender was helpful. We ordered a couple of beers and went out onto their outdoor patio to enjoy the scenery. Nice place!
