Good Chinese skewers, however the little plates with candles under them do very little to warm the skewers. So the skewers may be cooked properly, but they were merely warm when they were served and weren’t heated much more by the candles.

This place is legit. Real authentic Yanbian flavours. I ordered the skewers and they were smoky and delicious with a touch of cumin. The guobaoru is done authentic and is very crispy and tasty.

Guobaorou is called Guobaorou in Chinese and in Korea. It is also written as glutinous rice tangsuyuk Guobaorou which means thinly sliced pork and fried with starch. Guobaorou is a dish that is usually eaten with a mixture of sweet and sour sauce This dish was made while serving foreign envoys during the Qing Dynasty in the past. It is still widely loved in Korea and China.

Definitely make a reservation here. It’s crazy busy.

Exquisite food. Best skewer I’ve had in Richmond. Cooked on charcoal too.

Recommending lamb, lamb kidney, pork belly, chicken heart, chicken gizzard, Taiwanese sausage, and more. Beef is a little tough tho.

Seats are few and tight, you’d very likely have to wait on weekends. Waitresses are nice and friendly

Decent skewers overall, the flavors were solid and the staff were genuinely friendly and attentive.
But for over $50 per person and still not feeling full? It didn’t deliver enough bang for the buck.
Wouldn’t rush back unless prices drop or portions improve.

My wife and I ordered lamb skewers, kimchi tofu soup, and its signature guo bao rou. We’re not huge eaters, but found ourselves finishing even the large plate of fried pork.

On that note, we enjoyed the guo bao rou for the following reasons: crispy even after 45 mins, tender and moist meat, and a taste that actually improves with each piece. My family heritage is southeastern China, but my parents have always prepared their shallow-fried pork dishes northern style, so eating here felt like home. Generous amount of meat, and minimal salt on the pork itself.

The gentleman who served us was kind, polite, quick to respond, and friendly. We’re grateful to have stopped by while running our errands in the area. Thank you.

Good charcoal skewers. The kidneys are wrapped in fat which is quite delicious. All the organ meats tasted clean. Some skewers are on the sweet side (tendon, aorta etc). Portion sizes are massive. Ordered the fried rice and got maybe 5lb of rice lol

Came here for the first time today! My husband and I loved the beef and lamb skewers, as well as the dried tofu rolls — we ordered them extra spicy and they were absolutely delicious and full of flavor. The portion sizes were generous compared to many other places we’ve tried, and we really appreciated being able to adjust the spice level to our liking. The lady working there was also very friendly and welcoming. We’ll definitely be coming back! (:

So I came here twice with my friends and family and it was a very nice experience. Service is excellent, the only thing I’d criticize is the small space at the back of the restaurant. Sat there and it felt pretty cramped and unbreathable.

Their skewers are pretty good! A bit more expensive for the seafood ones, but it’s understandable because of the pricing in Richmond right now.

The Korean food is also on point, just a bit too oily.

Recommend lamb skewers!

It’s around 40$ per person.

Atmosphere: 3.8/5
Food: 4/5
Skewers specifically: 4.3/5
Price: $$

It’s a small but cozy restaurant. It can not serve lots of people at the same time. If you try to dine in for dinner, it’s better to make the reservation first. We couldn’t dine in When we came here for the first time.
The guobaorou is great and authentic. The barbeque skewer can taste the woody smoky flavour. It’s definitely worth to try
