We really had a great experience here. It’s like true Japanese restaurant atmosphere. Sushi here is the best so far that we have in Europe. The chef and staff are very nice and professional in their jobs too.

We came at 1:30 pm for lunch, it was one of the few restaurants that the kitchen was opened at that time. I ordered the Katsudon and I was very disappointed. The fried porc cutlet was very soggy and the egg was put like a mess in the rce bowl. It was a fail and it does not look like the japanese authentic Katsudon. The Udon was ok.

Definitely one of the best Japanese restaurants in Luxembourg. Well located in the city centre. The first time I went to Yamayu Santatsu dated back to 2012 before the father chef retired. His son has now inherited all the authentic Japanese dishes and added many new options in the menu. Even though the price increased a bit due to the inflation, the quality of food remained at a high standard.
Sushi Bento is a must. Not only because the foods are delicious but also it has the best price-quality ratio. After the misoshiru soup, the bento box was composed with a mixed salade, tempura scampis, fried seasoning vegetables, Yukimi and a few pieces of well prepared Tonkatsu pork. All were served in an traditional Japanese way. One can have a bit taste of everything. And then it was followed by a full plate of sushi and sashimi (sorry I forgot to take pictures of my sushi and sashimi, will try to make it up next time). Fish was really fresh, and sushi and sashimi were prepared right in front of you. My friend ordered a big plate of sushi but had to wait for me to finish both courses before ordering desert separately. While my desert was also included in my Bento. 😉
The restaurant is cosy, and try to reserve a table in advance. If you are an authentic Japanese food lover, the restaurant must be on your list. Recommend no brainer.

What I really love about this place is its authenticity. The sushi master is a real Japanese and I think the cook too, so they cannot really make their dishes wrong. And their lunch menus (chirashi or ramen) are not too expensive by Luxembourg city standards. So warmly recommended.

Good Japanese food for Luxembourg.
We got the bento box which consisted of miso to start, fried meat, veggies and salad, sushi then mochi for the dessert.
The food was good, nothing outstanding for the price. We particularly enjoyed the fried asparagus and meat.
The service was ok. The chef wasn’t friendly and there were two trainees that were lost when we told them what we wanted to order.
There was a more experienced young lady who was very kind, sweet and helpful.
The restaurant is small and the seating is compact. The restaurant interior feels authentic. It may be hard to have a reservation for a large number of guests.

Booked a table a week in advance as the local is quite small and many have been recommending this Japanese restaurant as one of the best in Luxembourg in that category, rightly so!
There are no crazy creative pieces here, just Japanese cuisine in its purest form, with ingredients so tasty they don’t need anything else. Even the matcha moshi for dessert had the right texture: not too sticky, not too hard. 100% recommend!
