Visited Yamato twice now and both experiences have been great. Went last night for their Valentine’s Day special and the service was amazing. They had clearly been stressed by having more patrons than they expected, but they went above and beyond to make sure my girlfriend got a rose and even let us take a balloon. Found my girlfriend’s new favorite sushi roll in the process, the Amazing Roll (pictured.) Their onion soup is also our favorite of any Japanese restaurant we’ve tried. The hibachi steak we ordered was also perfect. The atmosphere here is always very cozy and small venue feel. This place is perfect and we’ll be back, and often!

The food was excellent and the male server got everything correct. We had a witchy waitress at first who told us it was her anniversary and then messed up my food order. I told her beef and noodles. Maybe she wrote it down wrong but she brought out chicken. Then she tried to pawn it off on me, “Don’t you want this?”
“No, it’s not what I ordered. I already had chicken today. I want beef.”
We saw her drive off and the male server had to take over. What he brought was fantastic!!!
It was decorated really cute and super clean in there. Not a dive like how poor Trentunos the neighbor has become!
Alcohol prices were great! Lots of drink specials and also lunch specials, bento boxes, etc.

This place is amazing i tried it for the first time 4 months ago and every single time they get my order correct and even the owner came out to make sure my food was all there. They respect your time but not only that give you more food then any other hibachi spot. You would think more is bad because the quality would go down? Hell no there food is amazing and delecious. I have been to over 50 hibachi joints in alabama but none compare. The yum yum sauce is the best yum yum sauce i have ever tasted. Don’t listen to the idiots that complained about nothing this place is 5/5.

My favorite place to eat at as far as Japanese restaurants. Nobody cooks the chicken or steak better than they do. The sushi is excellent. Their prices are extremely affordable. The service is consistent. It’s always clean. It’s the best Japanese restaurant in the Pelham area. I love it.

Tried Yamato based on the raving reviews but was entirely disappointed! The sushi quality was terrible!! We ordered the Yamato roll, the singing river roll, and the dynamite roll. The sushi was not fresh (we did order 30 minutes before closing). The rolls were lacking in quality and the avocado had taken a turn for the worst, could have easily been cut off so we wouldn’t even know but that showed us they didn’t care about what they were giving their customers. The crab Rangoon was fried in a thick breading, also don’t recommend as it was hard to chew. If they used a thinner bread it might have a chance hahah. There are so many good sushi places in the area or within a 30 minute radius with similar prices so I wouldn’t return or recommend.
The inside of the restaurant is nice and spacious, but that’s not going to make up for the crappy food.

Stopped here from out of state. Amazing food! Awesome prices and our server was great. Ill gladly return if ever in that area again!
