Food has improved! The flavor of the sauce that goes with the shrimp tempura roll is a much better authentic taste. The salmon avocado roll was good as well! The tempura has been great consistently, so that’s a big improvement. Overall seems they have improvements going on in the kitchen. Service has always been consistent and nice! Still the best in town, but there is still room for improvement! Looking forward to that!

The food is alright, didn’t really hit the mark. In my photos you can see that there is essentially no difference between the chicken fried rice and hibachi chicken besides adding some vegetables. Having smaller veggies added to the rice and more variety would improve the taste. This might just be to save time and cost.
Other menu items I’ve had just don’t taste authentic. It is the only Japanese style restaurant in Defuniak, so it’s the best we have for now. Service is good and they are always timely in my experience, just wish the dishes were tastier. I have yet to try some of the raw sushi, but the tempura shrimp roll was pretty good. I’ll be returning but I would like to see improvements.

Food poisoning the day after they were closed for Christmas. The volcano roll erupted…over and over again for 8 hours after only 3 bites. Beware!! This can happen at any restaurant serving meat or fish that is raw or not handled properly. Recommend you get only thoroughly cooked items at sushi restaurants. The veg medley here is good, but ask for white rice instead of the usual that has oil mixed with it. You are better off getting a block of tofu ans some veg and steaming it at home!! Will save a lot of money too!

Had dinner here with a friend this week and was pleasantly surprised. Very friendly server, hope she is there when I come back again, she felt like an old friend (can’t remember her name-brunette, pretty, American). The food arrived fast and was yummy. My friend and I ordered the crab rangoon appetizer which arrived super fast, and it was delicious. Also, the ginger salad dressing is 10/10 definitely recommend. Very creamy and fresh tasting. We both had the filet mignon and chicken hibachi combo with vegetables for our entree and it, too, was tasty and fabulous. Cooked just right. Yum yum sauce was on point. Fyi, they do not cook the food in front of you and do that whole entertainment cooking thing, which is fine by me, because sometimes, you don’t want to play along, and you just want to chat with your fellow dinner guests you came with, and catch up. The portions were huge. I left so full, and still had lunch leftovers for the next 2 days, so you definitely get plenty of bang for your buck. I am planning to try their sushi on my next visit, so I can’t review that yet. I can tell you that their hibachi is definitely a star, in my opinion! I plan to be back within the next week to try some sushi, even if it’s just a to go order. Thanks Yamoto!

Atmosphere was great. Please remember if you are visiting in the next few weeks this is a new restaurant and will need time to figure out what works best. Our server was a sweet young girl. It is her first job so mistakes are understandable. Timing on getting food out in the correct order or remembering what comes with what meal will get better with time. For now our family will be going back for the sushi. It was phenomenal. Their Jalapeño poppers (sorry no picture, family ate it to fast) were very tastee. Also a must try.

Do not go to this location. Go to the one in Marianna! The sushi tastes chemically at this particular restaurant and the waitress we had seemed to be on something. I absolutely love their other locations but this one is totally a different story.
