What great way to celebrate a birthday! Thank goodness for businesses that honor a monumental milestone in peoples lives and giving a great experience.
Thanks to the staff for being quick and takes initiative on the yum yum sauce to go!
Yes, Lilly thank you!
Our chef Luis is our kind of guy, he cooks it good and holds each seat correctly no matter how many times we moved around due to the 15 min window. ( in case other show up to fill empty spots)

We moved the area recently and we would definitely recommend it.

We visited Yamato Japanese Steak House on a week night in the fall of 2025. We went fairly early to avoid any possible crowds that may cause wait times. Yamato is kind of different from every other restaurant of this type that I’ve been to. It didn’t give us the feel of a Japanese garden and/or Minka (Japanese house), that normally accompany such restaurants . Yamato kind of felt like a small warehouse that is decorated with a Japanese theme. I guess with a name like Yamato, they must be going for a more powerful or industrial theme like the famous battleship Yamato shares its name with.
Then for the first time ever for us, Yamato Japanese Steak House had something else that every other Japanese steak house/hibachi normally has. Neither of us saw any person connected with Yamato that looked like they had any Asian connection. I guess it really didn’t matter, but I’ve never been to any type of Asian style restaurant of any kind, that didn’t have somebody of Asian decent. It wasn’t a good or bad thing, just an observation of many years of past experiences.
Our server was very attentive. But there were not a lot of tables at the moment since it was still early. Be that as it may, she still did a great job. Our chef did ok. But the typical hibachi show one would see at a hibachi dinner was way less show than a normal hibachi show. But it wasn’t terrible either. More of a minimal hibachi experience.
The food wasn’t the best we’ve ever had. But it was good. I had scallops that were good. The fried rice was a little bland. But with some added sauce, it was decent. I did like the noodles as well. The wife felt pretty much the same. I think she liked the vegetables more than I did, but that is normally the case. 🙂
The portion was of good size and most folks will not go home hungry. It’s probably safe to say that a lot of folks might take left overs home with them. Yamato is not inexpensive. But we felt that the prices were reasonable for what we got. But peoples opinions do and will differ.
All in all, Yamato was not the best hibachi experience that we’ve ever had. But it was decent. The food was decent. The price was decent. The experience itself, was decent. Not the best ever in all respects. But decent. Decent enough that I’m sure that we will return in the future.
As a bonus: Yamato (as of this time) offers a free meal to folks on the day of their birthday. I do not know the details and restrictions. Only that proof of your birthday by ID or birth certificate is required. It makes total sense to me to provide proof. Otherwise it would be some person’s birthday every time people sat down. Unfortunately, some people will always try to take advantage of a good thing. As such, I agree with requirements of proof. Besides, it is a bonus free meal to entice business. Be thankful for what it is, not what some people may think it should be.

Date night idea!

This place was perfect! We avoided the hibachi table and picked a more quiet option with a table. Perfect for light conversation and the food was delicious!

I don’t remember our servers name but, she was fantastic! Very attentive, even after we chose a more secluded area!

Ate there for the first time March 25th. Our food was very good, and our chef did a great job entertaining us at our table. I had filet and shrimp. My filet was wonderful! It came with soup, salad, veggies, noodles, and fried rice.
Ordered a green tea cheese cake to go. The dinner was generous with the portions, but the cheesecake was a very, very tiny sliver. The appetizer was delicious. I will go back again. Price was pretty good compared to Benihana, which is where we have been going for the last 40 years before moving to Florida.

The hostess and servers seemed nice but the entire experience was just mediocre. We have been to Japanese steakhouses all over the country and can usually expect almost the same thing from each. Fun, talkative display of awesome cooking skills and fire bursts, egg roll, onion train, etc. But here, the chef was silent the whole time. You could tell he was skilled by the way he arrived and spun his spatula but that was it. No show, No conversation. Just him looking down cooking. We had to make multiple attempts to flag down staff to order a drink and although we asked twice, never received a booster or high chair for my kiddo. When the checks arrived, we had already been gratted but i grew up in food service and usually tip more than the 18% auto grat, even though no one provided anything exceptional, because I understand tips are life in that career. But, we were given no opportunity to tip more or a person to come back and check on us to see if we’d like to. It was like, here’s your check, get out. I understand working in food service can make you critical of other establishments but im usually empathetic of anything customer facing and they provided no room for that. In my opinion, the restaurant looked clean, well organized, but the customer service and food lacks. For as much as we spent, id have preferred to at least had something nice to say about our visit.

The food was very good and the portions were large. But that’s not why we we were there.
We specifically asked for someone who put on a very good show because we had family travel several hours to meet us for dinner and we were celebrating a birthday of someone who really enjoys the show at a Japanese steakhouse.
Our chef told us they were no longer allowed to do the little food-tossing stunts. There was no egg-spinning and tossing and catching. There was no onion “volcano.” No food flipped for us to catch. Nothing like that. And we probably sat with our water for 30 minutes before he appeared.
Then we noticed another table with another chef had the full show one would expect. Lots of laughs and interaction. Shrimp flying. Eggs spinning. Volcanoes shooting fire. That chef’s name was DK.Ask for DK if you want that kind of experience. He was great. Just two tables away for us. Bummer.
It’s not like we didn’t ask for that kind of experience. We did. And the hostess said she had no idea which chefs put on a good show. We had even called in advance and asked how to be sure we got that kind of chef.We were told to ask the hostess upon arrival.
Yamato, if you’re going to charge for the hibachi show, put on the hibachi show. Train your hostesses. You don’t have to lose customers over something like this. Some people wouldn’t have cared about a lackluster chef performance. But we did and we made that clear. We’ve come to you for special celebrations many times before and have been pleased. But this was not OK.

January 18, 2026 This was our second visit to this restaurant. This visit was no better than the first one a year ago. The waitress was nice & attentive. The chef, which was the same one we had on our first visit, was very dry, never smiled, & only talked when he repeated our orders. We tried to make conversation with him, but it was obvious he didn’t want to talk. He bounced an egg on a spatula a few times and that was all we got out of him. Food was good but not great. Will not return.

Our first time at this restaurant, with a 45 minute wait. The attractive thing is that there is a discount for those who have a birthday on the day they go. The bad thing is that they charge you an 18% tip without warning, and we’re only my husband and myself. They seat you in the wrong place, and unfortunately we were at the table with a 2-year-old boy, who did nothing but scream.
