This place has been open for 2 – 3 years but this is my first visit. I just was not able to get my arms around a Sushi restaurant in Shelbyville, Kentucky so I shied away until last night.
It is Chinese New Year and my wife (Shanghaiese lady) wanted to celebrate but neither of us were willing to drive to Louisville in this cruddy weather.
Decent business, maybe 8 – 10 tables/booths occupied. Looked over the somewhat long menu and wife selected the Teriyaki Sea Scallops, ($11.99) I ordered the Tempura Shrimp ($12.95) and we ordered a tuna Sashimi (2 ea. for $3.99)but I just was unable to make myself eat it. Not that I don’t like Sashimi, I do, but it is just that we are 800 miles from any live tuna and all that that implies.
Service was good and the food was much better than I thought (or feared) it might be.
Ambiance is virtually non-existent so don’t go for a romantic dinner with your main squeeze. Having said that, it was very clean it just needs an interior decorators touch.
Wife had 6 nice scallops with mushrooms and onions that were very tasty. I had 7 large shrimp, a side of crispy tempura veggies and 6 California rolls.
Both meals came with soup and salad.
I guess the weakest parts were the salad dressings, just so so.
Overall about a 7 1/2 maybe 8, but we will return.
