I am an avid Japanese cuisine and sushi eater and have been ordering delivery from Yamashiro for over two years now. I used to frequent this restaurant when it used to be Lemon Tree years ago however I did not love it. Yamashiro, under completely new ownership has reimagined Japanese cuisine into a fresh, delicious and accessible dining experience. We made a reservation for my mother’s birthday dinner for a party of six. The service was lovely and handled the whole party with great hospitality and care. Food was absolutely delicious and freshly prepared. Locals and city goers rave about Sushi Mike’s down the street but the sushi here is just as clean tasting. There are cooked dishes on the menu for non-sushi fans and so it’s a safe spot to bring the non-sushi eaters in your party. I love how they opened up the dining area and transformed the space as Lemon Tree was too dark and dingy (giving more of a wannabe club vibe than a restaurant). Definitely going to dine here again for some fabulous Japanese.

Upon the recommendation of many friends—I finally just tried Yamashiro and they were fantastic! The donburi was delicious, as was the beef udon. We ordered pickup and it was all ready within 15 minutes, staff was very friendly and quick when I came to pick it up. Absolutely will be coming back, to dine in next time 🙂

I don’t always have sushi but when I do. I make sure it’s from Yamashiro Japanese Cuisine. Sushi is super tasty and the lunch menu is so affordable. The place is super clean and the staff is always so friendly. Definitely a great place for a date night. You can also order online and place a order for pickup if you are in a rush and also plan out the time for it to be ready. Definitely will continue to come back! Parking is also pretty available.

Ordered out with delivery. Phenomenal. Fresh and amazing. True because Fujinoya apparently closed. This is my go to. Got the sushi and sashimi combo for 2. Blown away.

I came here last night with three friends and the experience was honestly terrible from start to finish. The restaurant was basically empty only one other table with two white women yet we were seated at a tiny table with barely any room. We moved ourselves to a booth so we could actually fit.We then waited 20 minutes just for the server to take our drink order, and another 30 minutes just to receive the drinks. All I asked for was a cup of ice, and one friend ordered a canned soda, so there was no reason it should’ve taken that long.
After we finally ordered our food, we waited an entire hour for two California rolls, fried rice, crab rangoon, and shrimp tempura rolls. None of these dishes should take that long, especially when the restaurant wasn’t busy.On top of that, the server barely checked on us. Anytime we needed something, we had to call her from across the restaurant, and even then she ignored us. Meanwhile, she was constantly checking on the two white women across from us and giving them attentive service. When we finished eating, I asked for the orange slices they normally give, and she told me, “We don’t have that today.” But I literally watched her serve them to the table across from us.We ordered two fried ice creams vanilla and red bean. My friend didn’t get red bean, but still ate it. I also noticed the dessert was different from what I was served on my previous visit, but I didn’t complain. When we went to pay and left the bathroom on our way out, I noticed the guava candies they usually offer were taken away and placed behind the counter. I politely asked for one, and the server told us, “No, you guys took a lot,” even though none of us had taken any at all. She finally gave us one each.My friend told her she wasn’t being nice to us, and the server replied, “You guys aren’t nice, not leaving a tip,” even though she gave us terrible service and ignored us the entire night. When we walked out, our dirty dishes were still sitting on the table untouched. We genuinely felt unwelcome and disrespected. Based on the difference in treatment we saw between us and the other table, it really seemed like she was playing favorites or worse.

Honest to jah, allah, god, whoever you believe in best shrimp tempura roll ive ever had. Im usually more of a crazy roll fan but figured I’d try one from the lady friend because it looked better than id ever seen. Did not disappoint. They also gave awesome little lunch bags instead of cheap to go plastic bags and a little charm with their contact info on it. 10/10 will be coming back.

I love love love Yamashiro. Out of 3 competing restaurants in Dobbs they are hands down the best. They are consistently delicious, fresh and affordable. They have a wide menu selection as well as the perfect lunch specials. I have always done take out for lunch and dinner and its so quick. To top it all off the staff is so friendly!!
