We went in for lunch to try the sushi. At first i considered the buffet but decided against it as the options seems to have more rice than fish.

My family and I are regular visitors of the restaurant. The food was always good. Well prepared. Tasty. The bill is never less than R400 a visit.Yesterday however, was a huge disappointment. Im not going to mince my words. I found the staff to be apathetic, and racist. No welcome. No acknowledgement. It was a sweltering hot day.The waiter switched off the air-conditioner once the only other customers in the restaurant, 2 white guests, walked out. Easy to tell why. The waitress disappeared after taking our orders. Sushi does not take long to prepare. The steamed dumplings were frozen in the middle. My kids were starving, and then were served this. We sent it back. The waitress never cared to check on the progress until I flagged her down. Then she came out of the kitchen with it. Being a Japanese restaurant, they were playing irritating english music. What a waste of my time and money. We dont only pay for food. We pay for good service and atmosphere too. The overall experience. I didnt complain to management as my kids begged me not to, for fear of having the meals tampered with. Epic fail Yamada Sushi Rivonia Junction. Do better!!!!!!!!!!!

Came at 8 to have sushi and staff telling us they closing, and told them there site says 930, then a response no 915, the entire meal we felt rushed, spoken about and extremely uncomfortable, from every time we wanted to order they paused, and under there breath ok. I’m very dissapointed in this, they even went as far as mopping our feet this is not the Yamada that ive been supporting for tge last 15 years, and we finished at 845, a whole 45 min before they close

Had the buffet here .. and let me tell you I’m a sucker for some good miso soup .. my daughter just fell in love with the spring rolls and sweet chillie sauce .. loved the vibe.. sushi chef was really sweet & took orders on what we wanted

Great and delicious sushi for a very good all you can eat price.
Sushi makers inside the ring are very professional and make very neat and delicious sushi.
Unfortunately the service from our waitress was not great at all.
Initially she was really friendly and approachable. We gave a reasonable tip but it must not have been enough for her because she suddenly switched up to be a completely different person. It’s not nice to realise someone is being not genuine just for a better tip. When we tried to say goodbye but she ignored us and pushed the receipt into my partners face.

Had an awesome afternoon yesterday with my daughter and helper, I can’t remember the waitresses name however she hardly checked on us. Mike was the star of the show, he prepared all of the sushi we ate, let us try new dishes and truly the Salmon Salad won our hearts! I will say we paid buffet at R225 pp and it was a waste considering we consumed 12 dishes at R35 each for the entire 3 hours we were there so I won’t have buffet in future as I only consumed 2 plates ☹️ sat right by the conveyer belt. Sushi was amazing, they were not stingy with the salmon. I’m definitely coming back!

Our dining experiwnce at Yamada sushi was fantastic! It was the first time I’ve ever felt comfortable enough that, whilst eating the Buffet, I could ask the sushi chef for something off the menu (Green & Yellow plates only) – The variety is actually extensive and only what you would expect to be expensive is no available to you on the buffet menu – which is so affordable, it wouldn’t make any sense not to take the option … you can add what you like as extra and have a banquet fit for an emperor for a great price!
There are also stir-fry and noodle options, bow tie and spring-rolls on the buffet menu.
We also had their spring-rolls and they were probably the best spring-rolls I have had in decades! Not the frozen ones you usually get at most establishments these days, but proper long, chunky, light but crispy pastry and so very tasty! An absolute must!
The atmosphere is quiet, not to say unpleasant, but not viby – that is to say, if you were in a larger group than just the 2 of you it certainly could be as the music they were playing indicated.
This is a great little spot, worth trying out and perhaps making it your go-to/ local eatery.
