Absolutely amazing experience today. We stopped here on a whim. We are from out of town and had very low expectations. I can say that the quality of the fish is amazing (even saw a fresh delivery come in when we were there) I travel alot and havr had sushi in many states. This was top 3 for me. Small family owned business. Very clean atmosphere and you can see the artistic passion that the sushi chefs put into each roll.
Whenever I am in Madison I will be back. Prices were also amazing. I was worried when I saw how low prices were but the quality far exceeded the cost. I feel like we got an amazing deal♡
Thank you so much!

Sushi and jalapeno poppers were really good. There are only about 9 four person tables, but most were taken by two people. I called and the guy said seating after 6p on Saturday is unlikely immediate and he was spot on. At least three people were told there was no seating available and left. There were 4-5 people waiting inside the entire hour we were there. Many people seemed to not be getting their take out on time.
Service was by one person and was just ok. It was slow because they couldn’t keep up. Paid $100 for 4 special rolls, two apps, and a soda which was felt right to me. I’d consider take out next time if I had a better idea of how timely it is.

My friend and I went here for dinner on a Friday night. The restaurant is small but was quite busy with both dine-in and takeout orders. We went a little earlier for dinner and were seated fairly quickly. Overall, the sushi was excellent. The service was also great; our server was kind, patient, and very attentive, especially considering how busy it was.

My boyfriend and I have been coming to Yako for about 2 years since he has moved up here. The flavor and quality has been consistent. It is a cute little restaurant with so much love and attention put into their service and overall atmosphere. Madison is lucky to have such great quality sushi around! The photo was from the first time we went! Yako roll is our ALL TIME FAVORITE

Amazing food, amazing chefs, amazing and cozy atmosphere. I really enjoyed my rolls. The shumai was amazing steamed. Plus, my sushi rolls had soy paper, which is way more tasty than the seaweed. I highly recommend the soy paper. Very clean restaurant. This is quite the hidden gem of a beautiful place that everyone should visit. Wow, so beautiful of an experience and is definitely one of my favorite sushi places. This was my first time.

Hidden Gem ! I have only been here for lunch in a couple occasions and that is for take out . Both times have been incredible food and flavors . This is a hidden gem in Madison ! I look forward to sitting in and having dinner here soon.
The fried shrimp tempura appetizer is light and crunchy with perfectly cooked shrimp. I could eat two servings of this easily . The tempura is light and has no grease or oily residue which is a plus in my book !
Lightly fried gyoza with a pork filling and soy sauce dipping on the side are delicious . Six pieces in the appetizer portion . Very well prepared .
Lunch special options include a combo of two or three mix and match sushi rolls at really good price . I did the three versions and it was very filling and super delicious. The spicy yellowtail roll is well balanced , shrimp tempura roll is generous with a great sauce and the spicy salmon is also very good .
Their menu shows some specialty rolls that I will be trying for sure next time I stop in .
This place both times has been amazing food , fast pickup and good service .

Delicious sushi. I enjoy their raw salmon. The spice ratio and blend for their spicy tuna is my favorite I have had at a sushi restaurant. Staff are great and hardworking. The atmosphere is beautiful and great for a date or celebration. Their sushi boats are really a treat aesthetically. Would recommend and always take my family here when visiting.

I love this place. The sushi is always great and fresh, and it’s become my go to for takeout sushi. The people who run it are also incredibly friendly, which is all the more impressive because of how busy they are. The head chef is just a machine at making beautiful rolls at a fast pace. He’ll look up and say “Hey there man!” and then about 20 seconds later my whole order will be ready and delicious!

This is a small restaurant that appears family-owned. They have a small staff so you might end up waiting a little bit longer than other places, but they work very hard and the food is very good. There are some very creative rolls on the menu, like the Wisconsin roll that I got. (Pictured) The portions are also generous for the price. Enough for me to fill up on one roll and soup and still take half the roll home.
They play jpop here, so it’s not always the most relaxed or upscale vibe, but I liked that there were no tvs. So, it’s probably a bit quieter for lunch. There were two families with kids when I was there, so it’s a more lively sushi place with non-sushi options for kids, too. Definitely recommend if you’re in the mood for something a little different.

My wife and I dined here for our anniversary date on a Sunday night. We got the impression they mostly do takeout but do have some seating inside. The sushi was excellent and the staff are super friendly and accommodating! Atmosphere and cleanliness aren’t that high on the scale however.
