Reviews
There’s a variety in the menu and the food is great. We ordered about at least 6 skewers with Ramen. Ramen was good, forgot the name sorry. Clam skewer is small though, but good. Highball was nice and strong.
Service
Do not expect the servers to be like Applebee’s. They’re just there to take your order and deliver your food. That’s just how it is.
Atmosphere
It almost felt like I was in Japan. The vibe there is just like meeting your friends after a long day of work to drink and talk while eating current day price skewers.
Parking
There’s no parking lot.
We focused solely on yakitori, skipping sushi and ramen (easily found elsewhere), and paired it with Japanese shouchu on the rocks instead of beer or wine.
The yakitori was perfectly prepared, and we were glad to see Japanese chefs using traditional cooking methods, including smoking! Pro tip: don’t order all at once. Order yakitori in batches to enjoy it fresh and at the best temperature.
Ordering directly from the Japanese owner in Japanese made the experience even more special. He was so kind! We’ll definitely return and bring more friends next time!
Seasonal special drink, sweet potato vodka. Preferred hot sake better pairing gusty night. And old faithful Asahi nama biru for ginkgo and shisamo.
Also tasty half eel. Negi small but sweet. Pork done perfectly as always.
39 (San Kyu) aka arigato.
Merry Xmas!

Asahi draft and hot sake done right.
Zenbu oishidesu. Especially beef tung and saba.
Try lobster yaki.
No lobster yaki. Instead grille beef also very good.
Momo, sunagimo, seseri, teba, kawa… all chicken regular and specialty great. Those $4~5 skewers add up. Pork belly, Gyutan also great.
Tried motsunabe. Nice for cold weather hearty soul food. Prefer yakimono.
Drinks.. Matcha beer, cold and hot sake reliable. Highball not so much. When soda was hot, readily replaced (gave another) with colder soda.
Service is great. Sacho disciplines/trains servers well. Authentic Japanese style.
Thank God this place in Teaneck. Otherwise, have to make a trip out to Manhattan.. Yakitori Totto, Torishin, Hagi…
Koreans can only flock… popularity of Matsuda-san from 544 (Osaka residents) craves for yakimono.
Arigato gozaimasu. KANPAI.
The restaurant is pretty small and old inside. From what I know, they don’t allow walk-in, it’s only by reservation. The kitchen is right next to the tables, so you feel and smell the heat and smoke of the grill.
It terms of food, I had a mix experience, some items were really good, like chicken liver, heart, scallops, but few others were okay, like the Onigiri Rice Ball, fried baby octopus. The skewer sauce is really good, adds to the taste of the items.
The service is good. Items take a decent time to come out. So order more, as you are eating your current plates, if you plan to eat more.
The service was top notch. They paid attention the pace we were eating at and never felt rush but just right.
Update 10/15/23:
I came here with a friend and this place is still the best for Yakitori. We tried a couple new items on the menu, A5 wagyu ribeye and sea urchin tempura. The wagyu melted when we ate it and it was so good. The sea urchin tempura was delicious but I probably will prefer the sashimi dish. It was worth trying. The yuzu sake was so good too. I couldn’t even taste the alcohol and could have ordered 10 of these. I’m glad I revisited this amazing spot.
