Best Banh Mi in NYC hands down!
I had the Super Cub Classic with regular spice, and it was delicious! It was flavorful, juicy, and with the bread slightly toasted. The staff was friendly when taking my order, and also following up once I finished my sandwich!
10/10 guys! See ya soon 🙂

Xe May is hands down one of the best spots in the East Village for a banh mi fix!
The sandwiches are packed with flavor — fresh herbs, crispy baguettes, and yummy fillings
It’s a quick grab-and-go kind of place (no seating inside), but totally worth it. Plus, they have a punch card

I love this place. Great great bahn mi. I always get the curry lamb bahn mi. Nothing to say but amazing.
Better for takeout since there’s limited to no seating inside.

This place is amazing! My banh mi was delicious (I got the Sidecar, with medium spice) and the service was very fast. My Vietnamese iced coffee was also good, and the lunch special is a great deal. Definitely would return! There are a few seats inside, but my friends and I decided to walk over to Tompkins Square Park which is less than a block away, and we had a great time. 🙂

Great food very small location. From the beginning your introduction to Xe May is challenging as you go down a few stairs to reach this gem, but as you enter you are greeted as your family and you get the feeling of such. I was introduced to the Side Car (cheese steak) lunch special and it was great for a big lunch guy like me. The inhouse drinks are refreshing. I will be back soon.

Vietnamese from California here. This is the best banh mi I’ve had in nyc recently. It’s not that easy to find in nyc, y’all.
The cub sandwich is the traditional and best version with che lua, head cheese and pate—-the holy trinity (none of that weird red chopped pork, which I think is a strange nyc invention?). The best part was the perfectly toasted crispy baguette that was crunchy and not doughy. Cilantro, cucumber, pickled jalapeño were all fresh & plentiful. I would prefer the pickled carrots were julienned (like the daikon), rather than grated but I’ll live!

If you’re looking for a delicious banh mi sandwich, look no further than Xe May Sandwich Shop! I recently visited this charming little spot and had a delicious banh mi sandwich. The only thing that’s keeping me from giving this place 5 stars is the price (it’s a bit on the higher end – $14 for the Hog – and I’m probably too anchored to some of the amazing banh mi sandwiches I could get in SoCal for $6 or so).
The bread was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the fillings were fresh and bursting with flavor. I tried the “Hog” which was a grilled pork sandwich with scallion oil and fried shallots. The meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the vegetables were crisp and fresh. The pickled carrots and daikon added a tangy, refreshing touch that perfectly balanced out the flavors.

Fantastic bahn mi!! I got the super cub classic, medium spicy, and loved every bite. The lunch special comes with chips and a drink. I got the Vietnamese Iced coffee which was also excellent. Definitely call in to order for pick up if you can! I ordered at the counter – it was still fast but would have been faster if I called ahead.

Excellent bahn mi sandwich. The chicken was flavored really well and was nice and hot. All the flavors complimented each other and the roll was nice and fresh.

Banh mi JOY! Large pieces of lemongrass chicken with cilantro, shredded pickled carrots, daikon root, cukes, and chili mayo on a bun crunchy/ crispy on the outside and still oh so soft and chewy on the inside.
Also got a basil limeade fizz.
Can’t wait to come back for the vermicelli.
