I had the Combo Number 2 @$15 which included cheese quesadilla that I added birra to which was an extra $1.25 ( the birra was bland not alot of flavor I would not add that again however I was told that it’s best when it’s served with a side of the cooked juices) came with a pastor street taco (the pastor was seasoned perfectly and even though it was finely cubed they were still moist) and pork tamale OMG it was literally the best green pork tamale! It was moist and flavorful! I was so excited about the pork tamale, Johny explained the other tamales which included the rijas tamale (a cheese tamale with the green pepper and red chili pepper) that was not spicy and very flavorful. There was plenty of cheese and it had a great texture to it. I saw Johnny coming back with some bowls of soup I asked him where they were and he mentioned that one of them was posole this is a Mexican soup typically made with pork and I don’t know of anywhere else that makes it posole is only available on Thursdays and if you want it you better come early because they consistently run out of it. I plan on being here next Thursday so I will let you know how I like it. I would definitely recommend XABOO MEPHAA and Johny. Thank you for your hospitality!

The food was delicious. The cheese pull on my quesabirria tacos was amazing. They were very small and deep fried. I never had them like that. The consume was delicious. The salsa was the perfect texture. My daughter loved the rice. Both of my kids ate all of their food. The service was very slow. There was only one guy working. He didn’t smile once. He didn’t write anything down but got everything right. They charge $3.25 for a soda and $6.50 for a kids meal that had a soda, main and one side. So crazy to me. Also hardly checked on us so I got no refill and they don’t do to go drinks even though they have plastic to go cups for the kids. They charge you more if you use your card. Even a debit card. Our total was $35.03 with cash or $38 something with our card. Luckily I had cash. I wanted to point out that it is illegal to charge a fee for debit cards. You can only do that for credit cards. Just based on the poor service and illegal activities I think we won’t be back. The food doesn’t balance it out enough.

Best Mexican food I have had in the Midwest thus far. Salsa is phenomenal, food tasted so fresh, not like it had been sitting. The quesabirria tacos were 10/10. It came with some fresh garnishes to add and a nice broth to dip. My partner got the gorditas and the grilled chicken was the best I have ever had. Every.Single.Thing.Was.Amazing.
Please go and support this establishment, you will be left finding your favorite Mexican restaurant, I promise! (Update – as I was writing this in the booth, our waiter brought us a cake to take home to try after we had mentioned wanting to try dessert next time!!! So thoughtful, we are now officially lifetime customers )

We were in Lee’s Summit so tried a New Mexican restaurant Xaboo Mephaa. It’s a small restaurant with about 12 tables. Seated promptly and drink orders were taken within minutes but we were the only customers when we arrived. My wife and I both ordered the special, three fries taco plate with beans and rice. We were served chips and salsa. When we first arrived. Things started off good because we both liked the chips and salsa, but kinda went down hill from there. The three fried tacos were very small, like appetizer size, with only beef inside. They were fried to a point that the two tablespoons of beef were burnt black. My wife said it was authentic Mexican, guess I like the American version better. The rice was just okay and the black beans, well I wasn’t a fan. To be fair my wife liked the tacos and said they had a good flavor. Be prepared they are not large, beef filled fried tacos with lettuce, onions and tomato’s like you get at Jose Peppers, Rancho Grande or El Patro. For $14, not including drinks I wasn’t impressed. $34, for the two of us, and I was still hungry when we left

We just happened to Google this place as we were looking for a Mexican restaurant and it wasn’t far. We got there and the atmosphere was very nice. The tables had beautiful paintings on them. The waiter brought us menus and we ordered margaritas, strawberry and a raspberry and chips and salsa. The margaritas were fabulous!!! We ordered our meal, we got street tacos. I got 2-shrimp and 2-pastor and they came with a small amount of pineapple in them which I had never had before, and it was actually very good…just the tiniest bit of sweet…there was a lot of meat in the tacos and they were the best I have had. I’ve had some really good street tacos from a food truck back home that I thought no one would top, but this place did. My friend had the 2-pastor and 2-steak…she raved about hers as well. We shared the 3 milk dessert cake which I have never had before and it was very good as well. I can’t say enough about this place. The gentleman working stated they just opened not too long ago. If you are looking for a good authentic Mexican restaurant, I would totally recommend this place. It’s not too expensive. I didn’t think to get a picture of the menu. I did of our meal, dessert. I hope y’all will give them a try. We definitely will be back!!

It’s about the food…had the gorditas with pastor, campechano and lengua. The crisp gordita is fantastic with fresh queso fresco is to die for. The meats were seasoned to perfection while being so tender.

My wife had quesabirria which was another winner. The consome was packed with flavor to provide a fabulous boost to a delicious birria.

The owner/chef visited our table and he is very proud to serve these old family recipes. Hard name to prounce…so just shorten it to….the best!

Far and away our favorite restaurant in Kansas City. We’ve tried most of the menu and have never had anything we didn’t like. The carne asada platter ranks as one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. The quesabirrias are my new go-to comfort food. The picaditas are a treat. The guacamole sets the bar for every other Mexican restaurant to try to be as good. Even the basic fried tacos are elevated here. We ate at the colorful food truck for several years before the brick and mortar opened, and are so happy to have enjoyed so many meals in the restaurant for the last two years. Do not miss this gem in Lee’s Summit!
