Food: 3/5 (quality and taste we’re okay.)
Service: 3/5 (Service was okay.)
Atmosphere: 3/5 (Small restaurant but clean.)

I recently visited Wow Boa in the Theater District of downtown Chicago. This restaurant, known for its Asian Buns and other offerings, is conveniently located near schools and theaters, making it an ideal spot for a quick bite. Okay experience!

Food: Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite meet my expectations. I tried the buns, orange chicken with rice, dumplings, and the homemade ginger ale. The dishes arrived cold, which was disappointing, and while the ginger ale was definitely a highlight, the rest of the meal was underwhelming. The buns felt skimpy on the filling and seemed like they had been previously frozen and then reheated. Overall, I found the other dishes to be just average.

Service: On the service front, it felt a bit lackluster. The ordering process was somewhat confusing, as you have the option for either takeout or dine-in. They call your name when your order is ready, rather than bringing it to your table, which adds a bit of inconvenience. Plus, the tables were sticky, and we ended up missing some items from our order, so I appreciated that we chose to dine in. It seems that the setup is geared more toward takeout.

The atmosphere was decent; while the space was clean, it felt quite cramped.

Overall, my experience at Wow Boa – Theater District was okay. With a few minor adjustments, this place could really shine!

Wow Bad. I had the beef (though there wasn’t much beef at all – it was more a beef sauce) with broccoli and the “famous” fried rice. The broccoli in beef sauce tasted cheap and the fried rice was a basic, but very oily, fried rice without much flavor or distinction. Definitely avoid.

Bad. Just bad. This is what the lo mein noodles looked like. No sauce, except for the sauce of my orange chicken rubbing off on the noodles.

Workers were very nice and the contactless order was very user friendly. Food quality is astronomically bad, and still paid $15 for my (small) bowl with four pieces of chicken and one bao.

This is an amazing concept. Contactless ordering and food pickup. You literally order off a kiosk screen and pickup your food from a takeout window when your name pops up. The restaurant was clean. The bao aka dim sum were more bread-y than a traditional dumpling. I preferred the potstickers. Love the restaurant. It was clean and prices were fair.

I got the orange chicken and it was absolutely horrible. At first I was upset by the small portion of chicken for $11. But after trying it, I’m glad they didn’t give me much. It was the worst tasting orange chicken I’ve ever had. No redeeming qualities whatsoever. Soggy and lukewarm. Sauce just sucks.

Food was cold. One person working. Took to go so didnt realize until got back to room. Lunch hour but still seemed like it had been sitting there awhile. Texture weird like its been. chopped up for people wth no teeth. Avoid. Props though to employee who calmly dealt with a crazy guy who needed to leave. Panda Express a million times better

Good food for the price! Good variety of bao fillings and their combo meals look good too. I prefer more filling, but I understand that they have machine made baos. Love the bamboo steamers! Convenient kiosks outside for ordering and a nice space inside; clean!

Fast food Chinese joint similar to Panda Express. I think the food was great but not the best Chinese we had. We ordered a combo menu where we had kung pao chicken and 2 baos. I like the ease of placing an order and the time it took for them to make our food.
