Came here as it was so highly recommended. We were persuaded to go down spice levels because ‘it was so spicy’ even the gal in front of us was like “I can’t do higher than this level, it sooo spicy!’. Wild. Because after waiting an hour for 2 sandwiches (there apparently was an online order of like 50 tenders??!) we found the sandwiches not only NOT spicy, but not very flavorful. Meat felt greasier than tasty. Appreciate the sitting area, the outside music, and the misting systems during the summer, but we have never returned.

This spot is a food truck completely covered in graffiti and permanently stationed inside the parking lot of a convenience store. You’ll need a keen eye to find them, but the Hotboys name and logo are on that truck. I had to do a second take to be sure I was in the right place. Also, other folks walking past the food truck was my only clue that there’s a nook with more tables nearby.

I could swear that the chicken tender meal has more chicken than the sandwich, and those were THICK tenders, let me tell you. Each one had to weigh at least 4 ounces. You can’t see it, but the tenders come with a piece of Texas-toast-style white bread and pickles on the side.

I decided to give my tear ducts a break and went for Medium this time. I teared up once . . . but I swear it was the sun. LOL. For me, including toast is extraneous, as I ordered a chicken tender combo specifically to avoid bread. But a plain slice of white bread is a very southern touch, so I can’t hand out a demerit for my personal preference. I just didn’t eat it.

The crinkle-cut fries come tossed in an addicting and light Cajun seasoning. They’re served with the same money dipping sauce that comes on top of the sandwich. I liked it more for dipping than poured on the sandwich.

This place is food truck located in the parking lot of the world liquor store. There is a sign on the corner. These guys came into my wife’s work at Buffalo Wild Wings and since then I said I had to try it. I have to say I was impressed. It’s very comparable to Dave’s hot chicken however, I think their chicken was more juicer and their french fries are very well seasoned and they give you a whole lot of them. I got their Medium level spice and it was just the right amount of heat. You have to put the honey on it with some extra sauce, it hits good with that combo. Plus the sauce is a good french fry dipper. Definitely want to try a spicier level next time the heat didn’t take away the flavor and I love that

They left out an item ($6 cheese sauce). I got the chicken tender meal, came with 3 tenders and fries. 2 tenders were a normal size, the third was the size of a chicken nugget. Overall a poor experience, first time ordering from here and the last time.

I placed an online order for a hot chicken sandwich. I wanted to change my pickup time to 30 minutes earlier, but there was no option to edit the order, and no one answered the phone, so I went to the store in person.

The man at the pickup window, whether he was the owner or an employee, did not ask for my name or confirm my order. He briefly looked at my order page and handed the food to me through the small window.

It turned out that the food was not my order.

Since there was another customer right behind me, I waited a moment and politely explained that the order I received was not mine. However, instead of responding professionally, he spoke to me in a dismissive and condescending tone and said that I should have confirmed the name. He never asked for my name or told me to confirm anything in the first place, which made the situation even more frustrating.

Order verification is the responsibility of the staff, not the customer. Especially after paying a staff fee, I do not feel this level of service was deserved. It honestly felt like a waste of money.

Regardless of the food itself, the service was very disappointing. I would rather go to the Oakland location instead.

I’ve been to the original Hotboys in Oakland and was excited to see them open in Hayward. The food absolutely delivers, the chicken sandwiches are outstanding and just as good as Oakland.

Unfortunately, the customer service at the Hayward location is terrible.

On my first pickup, I ordered directly through the Hotboys mobile website (not DoorDash or Uber Eats). The lady asked for an order number, couldn’t find my order under my name, and had me standing outside in the rain for nearly 10 minutes. I showed her my confirmation text and the website, but she kept telling me to “check the app,” not realizing Hotboys has its own ordering site. Eventually it became clear she thought I was a delivery driver. Only then did she say “oh” and find my order sitting in another pile. She didn’t even recognize the company’s own website.

The second pickup was just as bad. I said hello, gave my name, and the guy handed me the order without saying a single word. No greeting. No confirmation. Nothing.

Food: 10/10
Customer service: unacceptable

If Hotboys wants the Hayward location to live up to the Oakland reputation, they need to seriously train their staff on basic customer interaction and their own ordering system.

Ordered a Chicken sandwich with fries. (Tender White meat). The Service was great. And the food was good too. Came with a very generous helping of fries. Southern style. Caveat is that it’s a food truck so best for takeout.

“Honestly, the sandwiches are really good! I think I’ll order something spicier next time, as the ‘Mild’ option wasn’t spicy at all. The only downside is that it’s a food truck and you can’t eat there, which was a bit of a bummer.”

Or, a more concise version:

“Great sandwiches! Might opt for spicier next time, as ‘Mild’ was tame. Only drawback is it’s a food truck with no seating.”

Their food is so good, we have to avoid temptation of eating here all the time since its so close, convenient to order and good prices. They make your food fast, be sure to order ahead using their app.

They’re a food truck at a permanent spot that makes the best Nashville hot in the area hands down. I cet the hottest one as its the most flavorful.

Decided to try this place out after seeing it on tiktok. I ordered #1 meal and went with the very spicy option. They did not joke around when it specified very spicy. The spice did not hit me until I was halfway eating my sandwich, and I was thrown off on how spicy it was that tried to wash it down with juice, water, even milk and it hardly helped. The food portion is very good and so are the fries and I got full before I even finished my meal. 5/5 plan to go again, probably with a less spicy option, but the food was amazing.
