World Famous Hot Boys Food Truck in Hayward Review – Facebook

I could swear that the chicken tender meal has more chicken than the sandwich, and those were THICK tenders, let me tell you. Each one had to weigh at least 4 ounces. You can’t see it, but the tenders come with a piece of Texas-toast-style white bread and pickles on the side.
I decided to give my tear ducts a break and went for Medium this time. I teared up once . . . but I swear it was the sun. LOL. For me, including toast is extraneous, as I ordered a chicken tender combo specifically to avoid bread. But a plain slice of white bread is a very southern touch, so I can’t hand out a demerit for my personal preference. I just didn’t eat it.
The crinkle-cut fries come tossed in an addicting and light Cajun seasoning. They’re served with the same money dipping sauce that comes on top of the sandwich. I liked it more for dipping than poured on the sandwich.
The man at the pickup window, whether he was the owner or an employee, did not ask for my name or confirm my order. He briefly looked at my order page and handed the food to me through the small window.
It turned out that the food was not my order.
Since there was another customer right behind me, I waited a moment and politely explained that the order I received was not mine. However, instead of responding professionally, he spoke to me in a dismissive and condescending tone and said that I should have confirmed the name. He never asked for my name or told me to confirm anything in the first place, which made the situation even more frustrating.
Order verification is the responsibility of the staff, not the customer. Especially after paying a staff fee, I do not feel this level of service was deserved. It honestly felt like a waste of money.
Regardless of the food itself, the service was very disappointing. I would rather go to the Oakland location instead.
Unfortunately, the customer service at the Hayward location is terrible.
On my first pickup, I ordered directly through the Hotboys mobile website (not DoorDash or Uber Eats). The lady asked for an order number, couldn’t find my order under my name, and had me standing outside in the rain for nearly 10 minutes. I showed her my confirmation text and the website, but she kept telling me to “check the app,” not realizing Hotboys has its own ordering site. Eventually it became clear she thought I was a delivery driver. Only then did she say “oh” and find my order sitting in another pile. She didn’t even recognize the company’s own website.
The second pickup was just as bad. I said hello, gave my name, and the guy handed me the order without saying a single word. No greeting. No confirmation. Nothing.
Food: 10/10
Customer service: unacceptable
If Hotboys wants the Hayward location to live up to the Oakland reputation, they need to seriously train their staff on basic customer interaction and their own ordering system.
Or, a more concise version:
“Great sandwiches! Might opt for spicier next time, as ‘Mild’ was tame. Only drawback is it’s a food truck with no seating.”
They’re a food truck at a permanent spot that makes the best Nashville hot in the area hands down. I cet the hottest one as its the most flavorful.
