As a Chinese buffet fan, while traveling for work i googled “Chinese Buffet near me,” and World Buffet popped up as 0.8 miles away, so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to try a nearby Chinese food restaurant.

I rate value based buffets on a different scale than fine dining restaurants. I gave World Buffet 5 stars based on the value of the food I got for the reasonable price. If I was using my fine dining scale, I’d probably give a 3.5 star.

The good:
* food was good and tasted like your typical Chinese buffet
* a great selection
* has a sushi buffet included
* has a hibachi grill included
* has a soup station where you pick your ingredients and a cook makes your soup (I’ve never seen that before, which was intriguing)
* food was hot and seemed mostly fresh
* my total bill for dinner on a Monday night was right about $20, and if I pieced together what I would have paid for all I ate as al a carte orders, that would have been $40+, so it’s a good deal
* the sushi was being made fresh in real time and had a nice selection
* the drink server/plate clearing lady was super nice
* the place was very clean (note I did not visit the bathroom, so I’m not sure of the bathroom cleanliness)
* the food was plentiful and nothing was out
* the orange slices were amazing – I made that my dessert
* parking is easy and the location is in a nice safe area that is well lit
* the place was pretty quiet – no TVs on, or people talking on cell phones

The not so good:
* some of the food in the hibachi buffet (the raw ingredients that you put on a plate for the cook to then cook) was literally frozen
* the person that brings you to your table really seemed like they didn’t want to be there
* I wanted to ask some questions about how the “make your own soup” worked, but the cook was on their ear buds on a phone call so I didn’t ask and just skipped the soup station
* I still don’t get why at buffets the receipt still recommends tipping at least 15%, when the staff doesn’t actually serve you (for the record, I did tip 15% – I tip more at restaurants where the servers take your order and serve you)
* the ginger (I think it is) at the sushi bar was in a metal container (per usual), however the ginger was submerged in water making the ginger soggy (I wasn’t sure what the purpose of the water was)

My “not so good list” is relatively pretty minor.
All in all, I’d return when in town next. You just can’t beat all this food with a drink for $20 for dinner!

Today is January 17, 2025 and I want to give my honest opinion on World Buffet. I read a few previous ratings and I dont believe they are accurate. The food taste excellent and fresh, the variety is not astronomical, but they do have many food to choose from. The SUSHI was extremely good and FRESH. They have SALT and PEPPER SHRIMP yummy, long story short, everything I tasted, I ate because it was delicious! I am adding pictures of some of the things they have to offer, hoping this can help others!

The food was so dry it was sticking to the pans in the actual Buffet . The lemonade was lacking to say the least. The food had no flavor at all in the picture you can see the sushi just fell apart wasn’t even labeled so I hope nobody has serious food allergies planning to visit anytime soon. The noodles had no flavor. The crab Rangoon was refried and no filling at all. The sugar donuts lacked SUGAR. I said no to the lemonade and she brought the bill. Only one napkin provided no napkins on table. Soy sauce too salty. The potstickers were cold and the dipping sauce had absolutely no spice. Definitely won’t be returning here after this last experience. I’d give this place a 0 if possible!

The food is pretty good for a buffet, honestly. The sushi is certainly nothing to write home about, but that is expected for an asian-style buffet. One highlight for me is the peanut butter chicken. It is sooo good. I do not really have any complaints other than the price, but prices have ballooned on everything since this last January – so much more on top of everything since Covid began. My wife and I enjoy coming here every once in a while for an easy meal.

Nancy was one of the best servers I’ve had in a very long time. She was there to get us our drinks. If they were low, she took the plates away right away watched her throughout all the tables, she was picking up all the plates making sure everybody had their drinks right away. Excellent excellent service. The food was great. It was hot. It was fresh and there was it was always refilled. Thank you very much. If i’m ever back that way again, I will definitely be back.

Food/Taste/Flavor: 4/5 – their chicken wings were surprisingly good as well as the short rib. Avoid the sushi section as the items were not fresh and the rice were quite hard.

Service: 4/5 – quick service but definitely not the most friendly. When we were checking out, we were confused at the pricing since we were charged more than expected but the server wouldn’t explain in English and kept defaulting to Chinese.

Ambiance: n/a – packed a to go box.

Value for price: 3/5 – for how much we were charged, should have just ordered a dish rather than packing our own food.

I like this place! They offer a lot of food and they taste very good. I’m so full after the second round… I also love the noodle soup, which i customized into a pho. The waiter is very friendly. I would love to go there again. Highly recommend~

Huge buffet but nothing was hot at 5 pm. All the deep fried stuff was cold. We go and tell the employee that we are going somewhere else due to cold food. He took our plate and put the food we just touched back on the buffet. IF YOU’RE GOING TO DO THAT IN FRONT OF US, WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN THE KITCHEN? NASTY

This place is amazing . The food and service is great as well as the atmosphere. They have turtles and koi fish by the entrance. They have plenty of seating. They have a large selection of food of varying quality but decent overall. They have fortune cookies . They have ice cream and pizza . (I really recommended the ice cream and DO NOT EAT THE PIZZA .)BUT IMPORTANTLY ALMOST EVERY TIME THAT I GO HERE I GET FOOD POISONING BECAUSE OF THE POOR HYGIENE AROUND THE FOOD. THE SERVING TRAYS AND UTENSILS ARE OFTEN NOT CLEANED THROUGHOUT THE DAY. I’VE THROWN UP SOOOOOOOO MUCH FROM THIS PLACE. IT IS NOT OK. But in general this is an amazing place and I would go here anytime

Not very vegan friendly, nothing is labeled. I got a soup with tofu but they were extremely skimpy on the tofu and the soup was completely tasteless. Ok for my friends who eat meat
