We waited a little longer than usual to place our drink orders, but once the Bartender, (I believe his name is Justin), greeted us, it was smooth sailing.
We had the bread service, which was fabulous and an oyster appetizer. Both were wonderful.
For our entrees, we had the Porcetta and the Cappellacci. The Cappellacci dish was light and delicious and the Porchetta was a very substantial meal, with great flavor that brought me back to my Italian roots. Both dishes were bursting with flavor.
The cocktails were fantastic and the bartender even turned my gin-hating husband into believing gin isn’t so bad after all, thanks to the Vespa cocktail.
Dessert was great. The Crème Caramel with fennel shortbread cookie was an unusual combination of fennel, espresso, chocolate and caramel that worked so beautifully.
Before we left, Justin told us about the Sunday brunch and we made a reservation to return next week. We look forward to trying their Supper Club dinners as well as booking a reservation at the Chef’s Table.
We stumbled upon this restaurant today and found our new favorite brunch spot. The greeter was super friendly, and our server was fantastic. The champagne and (wake up coffee co. coffee, French pressed) were both excellent. The French press really brought out the flavor of the coffee. I ordered the pain perdu that came with roasted peaches. It was divine–the tartness of the peaches balanced the brioche and kept the dish from being too sweet. The bacon complemented everything perfectly. Portions were huge–two-meal sized. Highly recommend! I can’t wait to go back for a dinner service!
From the initial greeting, to the seating and all through the fabulous meal, we had a wonderful experience. Pole bean salad! Holy cow, who knew a salad could be that delicious. Oysters with beef schmaltz, go figure, but they were excellent. The star had to be the porchetta, iykyk, lol!! Excellent pasta, delicious cocktails and light tasty cheesecake with blueberries. Great service, great food and a lovely ambiance. Highly recommend!!!
Chef David has done a wonderful job with the decorations, settings, and the menu has plenty of choices for all types of discerning appetites. My wife and I like to try out new places to eat and this was our first visit here after a friend recommended it to us.
We skipped the appetizers and salads and went straight to the entrees. My wife had the The Porchetta which was prepared perfectly, probably one of the best we have ever had. I ordered the steak and it was so delicious, I didn’t even ask for any steak sauce, as any good steak really shouldn’t need any.
There is also a small bar if you wanted to stop in for cocktails after work or a night out with friends. The hours at the time said close at 9pm so it’s not a late night bar, so don’t expect that. The bar appeared to be well stocked with all types of libations.
Dinner was very filling and although the waitress (who was very attentive and nice) had offered us desserts, we simply didn’t have the room for any. Maybe next time we will try one of the many offerings. All in all, it was an enjoyable experience and we will certainly go back again. Highly recommended.
Living in Queens, I was curious about the restaurant’s name which is a section close to me. Stephanie relayed my inquiry to Executive Chef David Carrier who came out and spoke to us about its origins.
Cocktails: I had orange old fashioned and the golden old fashioned
Appetizers: I had the Ricotta and Morel Anolini while my friend had the roasted oysters served on a bed of heated stones.
Bread Service: fresh baked and in-house churned butter
Main: I had the Red Snapper. My friend had the Veal Chop
Everything was delicious and highly recommended.
The attention to detail and presentation made for a memorable dining experience.
We were able to get in with a search at the bar which was perfect to watch the expert crafting of the mixologist. My Negroni was a treat.
We started with the amazing oysters and frsh baked bread. The chef provided is with a mezza luna ravioli tasting that was bright and rich.
The Porchetta I had was prepared perfectly with crispy exterior skin and juicy layers of pork inside. Exquisite with the glass of Pinot Noir I selected.
The dessert was rich and flavorful and the selected small pastries were a refreshing finale to a wonderful meal.
I look forward to dining again on my next visit to town.
