I stop by Wok Express about once a year, and it is always a dependable spot for a good, affordable meal. I like that the lunch combos are available all day, and the General Tso’s combo with fried rice and two crab rangoon is always solid. It is not fancy, but it consistently delivers good food at a good price.

I LOVE THIS PLACE!

Found out about it when I was picking up a DoorDash order and while I waited I ordered a Chickwn on a Stick and it was so tender, flavorful, and fulfilling. The young lady at the counter was so kind and was very detailed with explaining the menu and everything to me.

Today 11/13/2025 I met Bruce and he is so professional, kind, and understanding. What seem liked a issue was a minor fix for him and he was on it to make sure I was happy Bruce has great communication skills and knows how to keep a conversation engaging.

I drive from Florissant to come over here to get good service & PHENOMENAL FOOD!

For the first time I tried Hot/Sour Soup and it was delicious just like everything else I have tried.

VISIT YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED ✨

(I had way more than this but it’s in my belly now lol)

I am so thankful for the service I received EVERY TIME I order from here! The food is ALWAYS REALLY HOT, REALLY FAST and my order is PRECISELY FILLED!
Some of the dishes taste the same which is sometimes disappointing but the quality , quantity and the personnel are professional. Never a long wait and no rude behaviour when a language barrier presents itself. I tell everyone I know about this place. Prices are fair. It’s great knowing you can still get a decent meal at a price you can afford in light of how poor fast food restaurants service and quality of food have become. I’m glad I don’t have to worry about dealing with buyers remorse here! Bravo ! Wok Express! Well done!

Moving my reviews over from Yelp. This was a favorite for a long time! Started going there when it was for the fact that everything on the menu could be had as a $5 lunch special. Big food too.

2017 Revision:

I’ve decided it’s time to bump them up a notch. Why? A few reasons…

1. They are always hellaciously busy and that means the food is always fresh. Always!
2. Their food is consistently better than any other similar place I’ve tried in the STL area.
3. I really respect the amount of business they do. Yes, that’s also my #1 reason but the fact is that if you go in for lunch and spend maybe 30-minutes in the place you’ll probably see them push out 50+ meals in that time with an unknown number going out for delivery as well. That’s just pretty damn impressive for a little Chinese place.

They are what they are…but I respect that a little more after trying other similar places. They really are at the top of their segment.

Original 2015:

Sometimes a three star review is an indication that a place is doing just fine but that their chosen niche just doesn’t warrant a higher rating. That is exactly the case with this place. They are a high-volume, counter-service place pumping out massive quantities of Americanized Chinese food. Therein lies the rub…I cannot really stick more than three stars on such a place.

I had the General Tsao chicken. It was served hot (no shit…it was lunchtime and they were slammed) and near my upper limit for spiciness at lunch. Less than 10 minutes between ordering and receipt plus everything was obviously freshly cooked.

A good portion of crispy fried chunks of chicken in a thick sauce with exactly two pieces of broccoli tossed on top as an afterthought. Add a couple of run of the mill crab rangoons and a pile of fried rice in the styrofoam clamshell and it was a pretty good value at less than $6.

I will certainly be back but not because I will be looking for a gourmet experience. Nope, I’ll be back when I want a pile of steaming hot Americanized Chinese food for way less than ten bucks…and sometimes that’s just fine.

The food is always phenomenal and the service is always amazing. Their quick and food is always fresh. The fact they deliver your food and don’t use door dash or Uber makes them that much better. Truely great people and food. ☺️

Had food delivered and it was fast , hot and good. I ordered extra broccoli with my lo mein dish and wasn’t much at all so I don’t feel like I got extra. Definitely eat there again. Prices were good also.

They don’t sell St Paul sandwiches! I was shocked and in utter disbelief, other than that would’ve gave them 4 stars, but how can a St Louis area Chinese restaurant or Chinamen not carry St Paul’s? What I did get was decent enough plus fast service at there 2 days on a row since my hotel was across the street. Just had my mind on a Shrimp or Chicken st Paul with a order of Crab Rangoon at the time of my visit.

Have been going to Wok Express for over 20 years since it was located on the other side of the highway with a drive thru. The portions and flavors have completely changed over the years. The Mongolian beef is normally my go to but I probably won’t order it anymore. You get a few slices of beef the rest is all bamboo shoots and onion. The sauce has completely changed as well. The potstickers are always doughy on the inside like they aren’t cooked all the way. The crab rangoon taste frozen. The quality isn’t there anymore and it unfortunately makes me not want to come back. I used to tell everyone to go there but won’t until the quality improves. Hope you guys can get that spark back and put the love of cooking back into the food. The restaurant used to be incredible.

Came in during a busy lunch rush and placed an in-person to go order.

Got the Orange Chicken combo and a half order of beef lo mein– $15 altogether for a lot of food

Orange chicken is well cooked and flavorful, with a very orange-forward sauce that goes well with the rice too. Also was surprised to find extra chicken under my rice for a pretty generous lunch portion at a great value-4stars

Egg Fried rice is fine, nothing special but also got the combination rice not a standalone full order. Could probably use a bit of onion to hold more flavor- 3.5 stars

Crab rangoons are very good, sweet and pretty cream cheesey. Well fried with a tasty wonton too – 4.5 stars

Beef lo mein is fine, a bit greasy without enough flavor to be really worth it, and the beef is a little too chewy- 3 stars

They were really busy for the lunch rush, so I can give them a little slack for that but still not ideal to wait 20 minutes for a to go order (on food that’s already prepared) all of the staff were very nice though, seemingly family-run- – 4 stars for service

All in all a pretty solid strip-mall stop for local (americanized) Chinese food. The staff were certainly overloaded with online delivery or pickup orders, I saw about 10 of those get worked on while waiting for mine to get filled. Will likely try again, but will order ahead online.
