Definitely not bad, but definitely didn’t blow me away. The shrimp was really good, but the fried green tomatoes were a little lacking. The flavor of them is really good, but I think they need to pat it dry a little more it comes out a little soggy. The mains were OK. The beef was a little dry. Definitely needs more seasoning. Overall not too bad!

Staff was very nice and attentive.
Food was 50/50 wish I ordered something different. Chicken was cooked well (not blackened as I requested) fried green tomatoes were soggy/not crispy and the warm slaw was odd/ too sweet and flavors did not pair well. The steak salad on the other hand was delish and homemade blue cheese dressing was amazing. Fresh rolls were delicious! I’ll go back but keep to more simple items.

What a wonderful place to go! So many food options. No matter what you may be in the mood for, you will find something to eat. I love that they make their own ice cream, serve it, and have it in pints and quarts to go. It’s delicious!
We recently enjoyed their French dip with some of the best sweet potatoe fries we have ever had as well as their crab cake salad. Everything was fabulous.
The service is always top notch and all of the staff are very friendly.
Reservations recommended.

Honestly one of the best places I’ve been to during my vacation in the US. The food was superb and the style and interior design, along with the general atmosphere, really interesting. The Caesar salad dressing was soo good!
It was nice to see that area of Raleigh and Six Forks after so many years… I rate Winston’s Grille one of the best places to eat in the USA.

This place is cute. It’s slightly upscale. Everything was…fine. The food was fine. The server was fine. But I wasn’t blown away by anything. I’d go there again, but it wouldn’t be a first choice.

Our work office always comes here for Christmas gathering. The staff is always impeccable with explaining all the details of the menu. The food is always amazing! Drinks always come out with perfect timing. Love that they printed a gluten-free menu when two of us needed it. Love spreading the word about this gem!

I visited Thursday night for a friends birthday dinner. 9 of us. Saved room for dessert so took most of meal home. Warmed it up a few hours later. It came from the restaurant to the fridge and microwave and a stink bug or what I think is a stink bug was cooked in the spinach. Photo attached.

Glad we finally tried this place. We had a reservation for Saturday evening but I think we could have walked in. We got one of their specials and the crab dip. The place itself is nice inside and everyone was great! The best thing was the bananas foster. It was huge and so good! I would go back just for that!

I rarely leave reviews—good or bad—but my experience at Winston’s tonight was so disappointing that I feel compelled to share it.

I attended my aunt’s 60th birthday dinner this evening (Saturday) at 6 p.m. Our party had 17 guests. About 30 minutes after being seated, our server, Olivia, came to take our drink orders. She seemed disengaged and unenthusiastic, but we didn’t make much of it—after all, not every server is bubbly or outgoing, and that’s fine.

Roughly 20 minutes later, she returned with our drinks. We were ready to order our entrées, but she insisted on taking appetizer orders first since two people in our party wanted some. That meant the rest of us had to wait even longer before we could place our meal orders.

After another 30 minutes, the appetizers arrived, and Olivia finally took our entrée orders. I ordered a ribeye steak (extra well done) with broccoli and mashed potatoes. It took about an hour for our meals to arrive. When my plate finally came, everything looked good—until I cut into my steak and saw that it was dark pink inside.

Initially, I hesitated to send it back because I know how food complaints can sometimes be received. But considering the price, I decided it was reasonable to ask for it to be cooked longer. Unfortunately, it took another 30 minutes before my second steak came out, and even then, it was still pink inside (pictured below). At that point, I gave up and decided I’d just take it home and cook it myself.

When I asked for the bill, Olivia curtly told me “it’s coming.” By now, it was 9 p.m.—three hours since we were seated. A few minutes later, she began taking dessert orders, so I asked again for my check. She snapped that I would have to wait until after dessert. I told my family I planned to speak with a manager, but Olivia quickly rushed to speak with him before I could.

The manager, Tyler, was professional in tone, but his demeanor suggested indifference. I told him, “If I walked out without paying, the police would be called immediately, yet here I am practically begging to pay my bill.” I explained that my main frustration was not just with the undercooked steak, but with the dismissive and unprofessional attitude from his staff.

Tyler offered to remake the steak, but at that point—after being there for over three hours and dealing with so much attitude—I declined. I told him to remove the steak from my bill and that I would only pay for the sides and lemonade. He then asked why I had waited until 9:34 p.m. to say something, but I had already explained that my concern wasn’t the food itself—it was the service.

I returned to my table to wait for the check. Ten minutes passed. Then twenty. I went back to Tyler and said, “Hey Tyler, I just want to bring to your attention that I asked for my check 50 minutes ago and still haven’t received it.” He casually replied, “Oh, I took care of it for you. I told Olivia to let you know.”

So I wasted nearly an hour waiting on a bill that didn’t even exist—and no one thought to inform me.

The entire experience was disorganized, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. As someone who also works in restaurant management, I would never tolerate this type of behavior from my staff, especially not from a manager.

I will never dine at another Winston’s, and I’ll be sure to share this experience with others. Customers deserve to be treated with respect, not indifference.

We went to Winston’s today and for the third time ordered the Black and Blue Salad with blackened salmon. The first time we did this, several years ago, the lettuce in the salad appeared to be soiled with what appeared to be shrimp veins. The manager at the time had the salad remade and didn’t charge us. The second time we ate at Winston’s, a few years later and a week ago, we ordered this same salad. We ordered it with two different dressings to try, it was wonderful, and there were no extra charges. Today we went to Winston’s and ordered the same item. The manager delivered our meal – which was astounding as the blackened salmon was charred beyond recognition and as he put the plates in front of us we were struck by the stench of burned fish. He didn’t seem to hear as we tried to object and so we flagged down the waitress, who very begrudgingly removed the cremated salads. The waitress was again unpleasant when she returned with our replacement salads. The replacements were as had been expected and were very good. Of the two salad dressings we had requested on the side, one was not what we had ordered and we asked she bring what we ordered. She said she had brought what was ordered but would bring the other dressing. No problem. When the bill came, we had been charged for each salad dressing. We asked to speak to the manager. He acknowledged delivering the cremated salmon salads and said he should have been more attentive. He advised us Winston’s charges for dressings on the salads. Typically when we pay over $20 for a salad, the price includes the dressing. I pointed out there is no extra charge for salad dressing on the menu and he agreed to adjust it off our bill. We have received horrendous, unsanitary, completely unacceptable food and service at what we understand to be typically a nice neighborhood restaurant. There are numerous other nice, clean, with consistent quality and good service restaurants in the area, which we will frequent in the future.
