We always go to Winstead’s when we are in Kansas City! The food is great! Good burgers, fries, rings and shakes! Just a short walk from the Plaza. Love the vintage vibe with turquoise booths and green and pink neon.

This Kansas City icon has been serving good food fast to hungry residents for over 80 years. I have been enjoying the burgers and milk shakes for fifty years at this plaza location. I personally have some great memories of spending time with Family and friends here. A large dining room with a 1950s feel complete with an old fashion jute box. Plenty of off street parking with a drive through that replaced the old car hops that were active here through the 1970s. Be sure to check out happy hour from 3 to 6 pm for half price drinks , sodas and shakes! This is the best deal in town their milkshakes and malts are great!! And a fair value at full price don’t miss it!

A classic diner and they keep their prices affordable. It shows its age, but there’s a lot of love for the place, and I think they could have a donation fund to fix the booths and lights and people would gladly contribute. It’s getting harder to find a booth seat that’s not torn open.

This place is very dirty. The ceiling and the floor don’t appear to have been cleaned for any years. The lights aren’t all working and the staff are mostly in regular clothes, so it’s difficult to differentiate who to ask for help and fellow patrons. We have came here for years, this could be our last visit if they can’t clean it up some.

Was my first time there. I ordered 2 chocolate sodas. But only received one. It was brought to my attention that I had only been charged one. I proceeded to order another one. The second one did not look the same as the first one. But none the less. It tasted really good.

If you’re an adult, the single burger isn’t going to do it for you. Make sure to at least get a double (the burgers are kids meal sized). The only reason I didn’t give this place 1 star is because that vanilla milkshake was the best milkshake I ever had in my life. The burger, onion rings, fries and even the coke were OK.

The food was decent. I like the fact that they let you do 1/2 fry’s and 1/2 Tots… The Strawberry Malt was super thick and tasty.

A classic Kansas City diner. Great spot for a casual lunch. My go-to is the double steakburger with regular limeade and a 50/50 (half onion rings and half fries).

Usually a good hit for a late night snack, but this time was pretty disappointing. We pull up and the lady on drive thru said “give me just a second” and then went and smoked a cigarette outside while I (and multiple other cars) sat outside for 5-8 minutes. Eventually someone else took my order after I said hello a couple times. Got home with my food and they gave us onion rings instead of tots on our 50/50, which normally wouldn’t be an issue but these onion rings looked like they were sitting in the holding pan for multiple hours. Normally I don’t complain but for food that’s overpriced for what it actually is, and someone who has worked in food service for years, I expected better but maybe that’s unrealistic these days. Lol. I would be embarrassed to send out onion rings that looked like these did they probably don’t get paid enough to really care though.
