A hidden gem, to say the least! The staff is incredibly friendly, and there’s plenty of comfortable outdoor seating. The coffee and pastry selection is delicious, and the attached market offers so much more than you’d expect. A perfect spot to relax, catch up with friends, or just enjoy a great cup of coffee.

Really adorable place! We were visiting DC for a long weekend and this was super close to our accomadations. We ended up going every morning for coffee and pastries. It has a real cozy feel, great coffee, not pretentious, but very boutique vibes. The coffee window is super cute, and its a great place to sit outside and dog watch. Perfect place for a quick snack, coffee, wine, etc. Will be back if in DC again!

A great location and wide variety of coffee and pastries available! The outdoor seating is cute and faces the park outside which is great for dog and people watching.
They do have free Wi-Fi but only outdoor seating available. There are a couple outlets by certain tables, but it would be best to come fully charged before sitting down.
For drinks I got their iced gingerbread latte and a Nutella croissant. The croissant wasn’t bad, but nothing amazing. The latte was good and a nice size too. My friend got their plain butter croissant and it was so delicious that I had to order one for myself! It has a hint of herbs in the dough that make it delicious.
We grabbed a table outside to get some work done. It’s a little difficult to put two laptops on the table together, but we made it work. I think this is a better place to meet up with friends or to use their market inside to purchase basic grocery staples or wine/alcohol.

This spot really used to be of quality and these past several years have really went down in any quality. There small ready-made snacks/apps are way over priced(priced as if it was a meal) $9+ (not worth its bland quality)

Wine and butter is super cute, and I’m glad we have it in the neighborhood, but the coffee is pretty lackluster, and the sandwiches are overpriced for what they are. Its positioning as a provisions shop also falls short as the wine selection leaves something to be desired, the staff are often unable to give recommendations, and the pantry food selections aren’t unique or interesting enough to warrant a visit. In a city as diverse and exceptional as DC I wish this place could be more

1. It’s never a good sign when you ask for a cappuccino and they say “small or large?” I said small because this ain’t my first rodeo but it was still latte sized.
2. I was received so coldly, barely greeted. I was told by a friend that she often gets dog treats there and it’s a fantastic place – so when walking her dog I stopped by thinking they’d at least recognize her. We weren’t offered. I already felt the coldness there so I didn’t bother asking after ordering my coffee.
3. When others came in while I waited for my coffee they were warmly greeted and had the simple chit chat you expect at a shop. Their orders were handed to them directly and they came and went… after a while the worker said “hey that’s your coffee” pointing at my coffee on the other counter as if to say “why are you still here? Didn’t you see I put it out for you?”… I’m not unfamiliar with this pattern. I rarely write bad reviews by the way so take heed if you’re POC you might be treated differently here.
P.s. the coffee was 7$+. I believe there’s a steep nondairy milk charge? I didn’t ask because I wanted to leave asap.

One of my favorite cafés in Washington just keeps getting better and better. The pastry is excellent, coffee and strong and good, and the walk up window has made ordering and pick up I sent for residence and visitors to Capitol Hill alike. When I first moved to DC in 2009, I discovered and appreciated this spot for expensive but delectable picnic ingredients for Lincoln Park across the street. Years later, they have that and more, with an expanded patio space and renovated. It may come the closest to European Café culture that exists on the hill today, which makes it a true gem in my view. Plus, they offer free “pup cups” to all of the neighborhood’s dogs, a lovely, fun sweet be I imagine improves consumer loyalty. customer satisfaction, and community affection in unmeasurable ways.

Hands down the WORST café experience I’ve ever had. I’m not kidding, I saw rats straight up jumping around the coffee station like they owned the place. If that’s what’s out in the open, I don’t even wanna imagine what’s going on in the back. On top of that, there were bugs everywhere. The whole store feels totally neglected and honestly kinda rotten. Do yourself a favor and stay at least 100 feet away from this place.
