Here in S Burlington for work event and my colleague found this place online. Great stop for dinner. Good food and service. We arrived early enough by 5 on a Wednesday night, no reservation and not very crowded. was pretty full by the time we left.
They give warm bread and butter at the table. Our server was attentive too but not overly.
Only posted the video in bathroom because the music caught me off for a second, when first walked in there were lyrics and I thought people were talking between stalls, but they were clean and nicely scented bathroom which is a plus.
Will add though the hostesses were slightly rude, my first impression want very welcoming there was 3 of them, asked if we needed reservations and our response was “we are slow right now” Either way, we obviously are tourists and gave it a try. Recommend maybe the hostesses try to be more welcoming, smile more , we are here to spend money and if others are like me, wrote a review.

OVERRATED RESTAURANT — RACIST VIBES & MEDIOCRE FOOD

This place is extremely overrated—largely because too many people follow hype instead of forming their own opinions. Here’s the real experience:

• Racist undertones from staff
• Unhelpful and reluctant service
• Uncomfortably loud upper deck
• Staff indifferent to seating preferences
• Overpriced food for mediocre quality
• Surprise “kitchen service fee” added to the bill

Upon entering, we were greeted with cold, dismissive energy. There were three staff members at the host stand, laughing and smiling among themselves, but their demeanor immediately shifted the moment my partner and I—both people of color—approached. We asked to sit upstairs and were told to “find whatever seat.” Once we got up there, the noise level was overwhelming, so we returned downstairs and asked to be seated in the quieter area. One staff member shrugged it off to a colleague and walked away with a subtle attitude. The hostess who eventually seated us clearly didn’t want to be bothered. She made no effort to offer seating options and initially tried to place us in a dark corner. When we asked for more light, she simply placed us in another corner—still far from ideal.

The only highlight of our visit was our waitress. She was friendly, professional, and clearly trying her best. She is the only reason I’m giving this place 2 stars instead of 1.

As for the food:

The fried calamari was smothered in flour—overly heavy for a starter, especially for someone trying to enjoy a cheat day without feeling stuffed before the main.

The steak was decent, but the fries tasted like they came out of a freezer bag.

And most upsetting of all: The racial bias was hard to ignore. We watched as other guests—clearly not people of color—received warm, attentive service, while we were barely acknowledged. Even an Army veteran dining near us received no appreciation or special service, despite his partner politely asking. That says a lot about the values here.

I will never return. The atmosphere is empty when basic human decency is missing. Avoid this place if you care about genuine hospitality and equal treatment.

We had our anniversary dinner here and it was lovely! We sat next to a 95-year-old man who was clearly a regular who charmed us with his conversation. I had the filet mignon and it was delicious! Hubby had the prime rib and said the same.

On a road trip, very pleased to have found the Windjammer Restaurant.

We were greeted as we entered and immediately seated. Our Server was very helpful, friendly and fast.

I had their vegetarian dish of portobello mushroom in a pastry, with carrots all in a red wine sauce. I enjoyed it and the portion size was good.

Thank you for a lovely experience.

It’s not a bad place at all. The menu is smaller but accommodates most. I enjoyed the drinks, food, and dessert. I was visiting for the first time, and I would recommend this place. The upper deck is live and full of laughter. If you’re looking to have conversations, I wouldn’t suggest the upper deck. The restroom was also clean.

1st of all our server Zach was super awesome and very personable. Ok now let’s start with the place….it was huge and very cool inside with the decor. We were sat exactly at there 5pm dinner service by the time we left there was a tush in almost every seat. Now lets go to the food…..it was me and a buddy and we like TO EAT….we had Crab Cakes(awesome) the Statler Chicken, the Filet special, blistered Brussel Sprouts, Creamed Spinach, Lobstercargo and we also got the Asian salad with shrimp and the Harvest salad with Chicken to take back to the hotel for a late night snack. I can’t express enough how good everything we ordered was,I mean just delicious. I live in East Quogue Long Island NY and my boy lives in the Catskills and both of us will be making a trip back to ski and most definitely will be stopping at The Windjammer again! 5 out of 5 in my Dining with Dan reviews!

Came to South Burlington late. Windjammer was recommended by family. Ted, the upstairs bartender, Rosie, the manager and Benjamin the personable young server were all accommodating, funny and professional. Ted had to deal with a large group of rambunctious 60 something year olds celebrating a birthday. You couldn’t knock the smile off Rosie and Benjamin’s face. Definitely made the night better. The food was great and the service even better. Will definitely be a repeat customer.

Niko and Fred set up a 20 person team dinner for us during a hockey tournament. Two servers were perfect , friendly and awesome. Food was fantastic. Not a single missed drink, never waited for a drink , every meal was spot on perfect and perfectly cooked. It couldn’t have been better. Team mates are still saying how good it was two days later.
A Huge Thank you to the whole upper deck pub crew from the Cape Cod S.O.B. ‘s
