What a little hidden gem, You can’t beat the service from the most personable server you’ve met. And the food is all made from scratch in house, by the family that owns it. Very few tables, a very complete but small bar, a little kitchen, all overlooking the water.
We had the she-crab soup, crab cake sandwich and key lime pie for dessert all of which were fantastic!
Definitely a great stop!

Amazing! Had delicious crab and unbelievable crab cakes. My husband had the fish on the wall (shown with a lure in a metal fish display) Service was prompt and kind. Best meal I had had in a long time. I want to go back tomorrow. Decor is cute and I just loved it!

Fish tacos and shrimp were amazing. ❤️ I’ve lived there for 11 years and did not know this place existed. Glad it was a kept secret that I found on my own. I will eat here every time I visit Norolk!!

We had a fish sandwich and shrimp and grits. I think people have mentioned the place is very small, like 8 tables and an outside area that is not heated. However, they have plastic curtains so difficult to see the water. Inside no view of the water, so not very good atmosphere. Do not like writing a negative review but stopped here based on good reviews. Fish was OK but only 4 of us were there and I suspect I was served old and cold fries. Shrimp was well prepared but the grits were 1/2 done and had no flavor. Thankfully the little bit of sausage and peppers gave the dish some flavor. Maybe because of off season but not sure what they would do if they were busy. I also though prices were high such as $20 for fish sandwich. A bit irritated the menu for the specials of the day and others on the menu did not have prices.

Five stars all day long. Family owned and operate it. We had the crabcake sandwich and fish tacos and they were both fantastic. Definitely recommend everything here is freshly made daily. Nothing is frozen.

4 Stars – The Food Made It Worthwhile
Willoughby Fish House isn’t much to look at, especially given its location amid the Highway 64 road construction which certainly doesn’t add much to the ambiance. The place felt a bit run down and could really use a thorough cleaning and some upkeep. That said, the food ended up being the redeeming factor.
Our server, Nicole, was friendly and helpful with navigating the menu, but the wait time was excessive, just over an hour from the time we were seated to when our food arrived. A couple tables that were seated after us even received their meals before we did. Nicole assured us the food would be worth the wait, and to her credit, she was right.
We ordered the Wahoo with mac and cheese and sautéed green beans, Sparrow’s fish and chips with sautéed vegetables, and a pound of steamed shrimp. With the exception of the sautéed vegetables being a little too salty, every dish was flavorful and very well prepared, clearly the kitchen knows what it’s doing when it comes to seafood.
If 3.5 stars were an option, honestly that’s where I’d land, but the food alone earns this spot 4 stars. If you’re after fresh, perfectly cooked seafood and can overlook a long wait and very casual atmosphere, Willoughby Fish House is worth checking out.

I almost don’t want to leave a review because I don’t want too many people to know how good this place is, haha. This is the only true fish house/seafood restaurant left that I have found where the fish is the star instead of the butter and cheese (also, cheese— why?). Catch of the day is actually from here, fried shrimp and fish has the right East Carolina light breading. The service can be a tad bit slow but if you don’t wanna wait for the best food, you deserve to go somewhere else and get what you get. Also the porch is delightful and dog friendly. Great cocktail menu.

We just picked Willoughby Fish House because it was just off our route but I would say it is well worth a purposeful drive.
The view off the patio is great with the marina in the foreground and lots of other activity in the background.
The food is excellent as well. I had the scallops and the crab mac. The scallops were big and perfectly prepared.
The sauce on the crab mac was very good, like a better version of Old Bay seasoning.
My wife had the crab dip and said it was delicious as well.
Definitely worth the time to seek out Willoughby Fish House.

Excellent place to hang out and enjoy the delicious food, ambiance, and atmosphere. Drinks are made with taste and perfection. Food was hot temperature wise when served. We enjoyed the food and place. Could not sit outside on patio due to cold weather, will recommend outdoor heaters be offered so one can enjoy the ambiance.

Really delicious! Not what we expected, but yummy! The fried pickles might have been the best I’ve ever had, they’re definitely the best I’ve had in a long time. They had that great batter to pickle ratio. The fish tacos were pretty good. We also had the Little Bay, which was cooked. This surprised us cause we were thinking raw oysters, but it was so tasty it wasn’t a downside! The sides were super good, really delicious fries and coleslaw! I also had the key lime pie which was really delicious. And the view can’t be beat! We would definitely come back!!
