Had lunch at the Wildflower cafe. The restaurant has a real eclectic feel. Decorated very nicely. We were seated as soon as we arrived. Elijah took very good care of us and had a very nice personality. We both ordered the loaded shrimp and gritts plus a side salad. It did not take long to prepare. Being loaded we expected lots of shrimp. They had lots of very good ingredients and it tasted good. However neither of us found any shrimp in our shrimp and gritts. We learned later if we wanted shrimp in it we had to order it separately. Thats a new one for us, actually disappointing. If it is a cost issue lets put the shrimp in the shrimp dish and charge what it needs to be. The salads were good. When we return we will definitely order something else.

I’ve wanted to visit this place for a while now and finally got the chance while in our way home from Chattanooga. They did not disappoint! The food and atmosphere were perfect! I even snagged a cute pair of earrings. Can’t wait to stop in again.

This place was amazing! I came here with my wife after finding out about her 2 month affair. The food was fantastic. We started with the appetizer loaded mountain grits with Smokey flavor and bacon. We discussed the details of how she cheated with romantic and atmospheric ambience. The staff were super attentive and all very sweet young ladies. I was thinking about making a pass at one given my current situation. For the main dish I had the tomato pie which was amazing but not what I pictured in my head. I pictured something like a Pizza. My promiscuous wife got the smothered chicken which was also fantastic. We finished the meal with a peanut butter pie slice which was VERY rich and delicious. It tasted like a buckeye. My wife got the crepes and they were light fluffy and delicious. I highly recommend this place and we will be back possibly with different spouses.

We took a short getaway trip to Mentone and everyone raved about The Wildflower Cafe. So I made advance reservations. We loved the eclectic atmosphere and really enjoyed that there was live music. The food was okay. But not as great as all the hype. We ordered the “kettle cooked potato chips with ranch” as our appetizer. My husband jokingly said “it’s probably just Lays potato chips” and I said “no, they pride themselves on farm-to-table, fresh ingredients.” I was expecting warm, salty, homemade chips. Y’all. It was literally Lays potato chips with ranch in pre-portioned containers. I looked at my husband and said, this is what you eat when there’s nothing in the house to eat.
I ordered the tomato pie entree and he ordered the shrimp and grits dinner. I did enjoy my entree. I was so happy with the chicken and sautéed veggies. The tomato pie was good too, but the crust was a bit soggy. My husband says that the shrimp and grits were good, but not great.
We had great service. The young man who took care of us made sure our sweet tea never ran low, replenished our ice without us asking, checked on us several times to make sure that we were satisfied. He was great.
Overall, yes, we’d go back because options are limited in the area, but I wouldn’t say it was my favorite meal of our weekend.

Ainsley was a pleasure and treated us like family! Our group had never been before. Wonderful experience and a chance to get out of Huntsville for a quick road trip up to Mentone!

Quirky. Charming. Beautiful. Comfortable. Enjoyed a lunch time birthday celebration here. Shady trees. Lovely flowers with lilting fragrances. Welcoming porch into hostess who took our name for seating. Restrooms available. Small gift shop with unique local items. Seated by a window. Fantastic server! Relaxing with reading the menu and recommendations. We each enjoyed our meals plus desserts. Three take out boxes for leftovers. The meals: 1. Chicken salad on green salad. 2. Shrimp and grits topped with Alabama sausage. 3. Vegetable Sampler with a 4 oz blackened chicken breast on side. Desserts: Peanut butter pie; Custard pie; Hummingbird cake.

Absolute 10/10 location!
The tomato pie was really good, but we can see why some folks would call it “fancy pizza”. Still – recommend trying a piece!
Our favorite was the Shrimp and Grits with sausage added on! Amazing!

I would not stop talking about this life-changing pie! It was a pretty long drive from where I was camping, but a friend raved about the tomato pies here and I had to try it while I was in the area. Best decision I have ever made crossing state lines for tomato pie! We also tried five other things on the menu and everything was outstanding, including the shrimp and grits and the bread with the dipping sauce. I don’t think you could go wrong with just about anything on this menu. I wish I lived closer! The whole experience was fun beyond just how good the food was there was somebody out front playing a guitar and singing to kids. The scenery was gorgeous and the decoration was very eclectic and fun.

Adorable place! I tried their world famous tomato pie. It was good. I can’t say I have anything to compare it to though. My husband had the chicken salad sandwich which was a really good size. The staff was super friendly and the prices were reasonable.
