Edit: Save yourself the hassle by not going here. If you want better bbq, try Lumpy’s in Clementon.
Everything is done w/ an iPad there, all the orders and even the cash register as I found out. Great use of tech, if you have more than 1 iPad for the entire restaurant, including walk in-take out, phone orders and dine in all using the same iPad. I sat there with my daughter for 30 minutes until they could just take my order because they had to cash checks out and people coming in to pick up orders needed to pay ALL ON 1 iPad :-/
When I got my order in the food did come out very quickly, and the waitress told me was on her 2nd day at the place, and the owners mother who told me she ran an automotive garage and not the restaurant she was just helping out, were both very apologetic about the wait. I ended up spending $83.67, now $50 of that was from a Groupon so I paid $33.67.
When I got home I was ticked I even had to pay that…. I ordered 2 racks of ribs they had no great smokey flavor and barely any BBQ when I told the cook himself I want them WET and on top of that they were tough as all heck. Now my kids LOVE ribs, if we go out anywhere they get ribs and there is never anything left on their plate.
My 12 and 14 year old both looked at me and walked away from the food. It was that bad! I ordered the BBQ chicken for my wife which was ok, the asparagus was thinner than a pencil. But the chicken was a 7 out of 10.
I ordered the Meat trio which was the Pork Bomb, Chopped pork and the Brisket. They gave me a Very thin dry slice of the pork bomb and I was really looking forward to that, did I mention how is was sooooo dry and to tough to eat… The chopped pork was edible more BBQ sauce than smoky flavor and the Brisket was 75% fat. No kidding 75% fat.
I was an Executive Chef for 15 years, classically trained from Johnson & Wales University before I changed careers, and I can tell you I would shut the doors and get that place together before sinking any more money into it.
Every review I have read here on Google, on Urbanspoon and on Yelp have all been Negative for the most part. The owners mother told me the owner, her son was in marketing, which he has done a Great job of doing Really he has the business cards are awesome looking.
But maybe he should stick with the marketing end and hire a real chef and not just a cook, then I would recommend standardizing all his recipes. I over heard the one Bigger cook say to the other cook, “I don’t care what they say this is how I always do it” So I guess I may have gotten that cooks rendition of what the owner is trying to do, I’m not really sure. On top of that the portion sizes were so small it really was not worth even the extra money I had to pay.
Would I go back, Not to spend the amount I did, Nope!!! On a scale of 1 – 10, I would rate this about a 4 and that is only because the owners mom and the new waitress were so polite.
I was really hoping for this to be my new local go to BBQ joint, guess I have to keep looking! Keep your money in your pocket and keep driving, Sorry!
