A decade ago I worked in Thi’s kitchen where all of the food was perfect (Bistro Z in Sussex). Fast forward to Valentines Day when I saw Thi again to enjoy the special menu at Wild Roots. The atmosphere is unique, modern, and a conversation starter. The bulgogi meatballs are one of my all time favorite starters — must try in Milwaukee. The beef Wellington on the menu exceeded expectations; my girlfriend loved the entirety of her meal as well. Her steak atop the garlic mash was great.

Amazing experience- deeply satisfying 3 very different pallets. My dairy-free, chef sister, “meat and potatoes” partner, and no red meat, eat with her eyes first gal, me, made the perfect decision to dine at Wild Roots. The curry is complex and defys all expectations, the bulgogi meatballs are out of this world, and one world be crazy not to try the bluegill fish fry, if you can!

The staff is incredible, the environment is classy but cozy, and the lavender espresso martini is worth the sip Brunch is always delicious, but I can’t wait to come back for dinner!

This was my second time here, but my first time for lunch. I came with a couple of friends, with the goal of trying their highly praised Duck Fat Burgers, which were rated as the second-best burger in Milwaukee by Milwaukee Magazine. We were not disappointed.

It was a Wednesday, and we arrived a little before noon. There were a few other people there, some at the bar and others at the small tables. The place is a little loud, with lots of hard surfaces and music playing. We were greeted by a very friendly server, who seemed to be doing pretty much everything except the cooking.

There are a couple of different burgers on the menu, but we all went with the Duck Fat Burger. It is a one-third pound patty, cooked to order. My medium-rare came out exactly as I like it. The combination of caramelized onion, cheese, and thousand island was well balanced. The bun was nicely grilled, and the crunch lasted through the entire meal. The French fries were hot and flavorful, with a very crusty exterior and a soft inner texture. I talked to the cook, who let me in on the secret, they double fry them.

With the exception of the noise level, it was an excellent burger experience. The service was very good (thanks, Jessica). I will definitely be coming back again.

Food was excellent n it was pretty busy for 1 server. She was great though. Duck breast was good. In our party everyone loved the special. Shrimp with bacon bits, roasted pepper sauce n Cavatelli pasta with chili flakes. Maple ol fashion was solid.

Ordered the aged duck breast and it was just fantastic. Meat moist, skin crispy. Everyone else in my group got the blue gill fry. The coleslaw was loved and all said they would not order again. They were eyeballing my plate with longing. The staff here including the chef/owner and his fiance are very welcoming and outgoing. The restaurant was overwarm on a sultry day, leading to the wine I had with dinner being too warm also. This is a slow food restaurant so not a place to go if you’re in a rush. After being seated, it took about an hour until we we got our food.

Loved Wild Root. Went for dinner last night and was thrilled with the menu. There were meat and vegan choices! Everything we ate was delicious. So happy with our delightful waitress Jessica. Atmosphere was warm and cozy — perfect for a cold night out. Noise level not bad. Music choice appropriate. Highly recommend!!

A mixed bag. Food was great and the menu is fun. The experience depends where you sit. The noise at one table was loud . . . perhaps some call it a lively room. For our party it was near shouting to have a conversation. Just as we sat down I looked for a quieter area and found it. But the empty table would not be ours, even after asking. Goodness guys, do something about the sound level.

The Thai Curry noodle dish with shrimp is beyond delicious. I can’t stop thinking about how good it is. I definitely recommend it.

Went back yesterday again and ordered their seasonal dish, cauliflower steak in a brothy couscous. Scrumptious!! Bright and savory with a splash of citrus. Perfect balance of flavors. I could eat this all day long. I ordered some wings as well. Tasty!

Very friendly and prompt service. They definitely know what they are doing there.
