Authentic desert bar and restaurant… been visiting for the past 20 years. One of the best spicy bloody Mary’s in the US. Chilli and burgers are classics and not to be missed. Kept simple and done well.

CASH ONLY! Be aware it is cash only. The only warning is red letters on the menu, we didn’t even look at the menu. If you don’t have cash they offer a ATM that will charge you to use. We had 2 beers (cans} and 2 bowls of chili and only then did we realize it’s cash only. We had $15 in cash (our bill was $23) and a debit card that would not work in their ATM. OWNER: you already have 4 or 5 warning signs on your doors, add CASH ONLY. Get with the times, take cards even if you charge a fee.

Stopped in today on the way to lake pleasant. I haven’t been here since 2000. Burgers are still great. The service is second to none. We were waited on within seconds. The staff is extremely friendly and a well oiled machine. I even saw the cook bring out an order. Outstanding team work.

Sad… I had asked for a beer and a hotdog to eat there, while the rest of the order was cooking. Beer was brought out and the bill was placed on the table. The food finally arrived 40 minutes later all boxed up. I asked where the order was that was for here? She had no idea and said I dont know???? Who took your order??? I had no idea names where not given. I would have enjoyed another beer and ate the hotdog there if it was a friendlier environment. I had said when I walked in “I have never been here before, but I have been trying to get here for a couple weeks. I had heard the food was great”. When I got to the truck and found the hotdog, to eat on the way home… it was the saddest thing I have seen. The hotdog was cut in half and had shredded cheese that was not even melted the hotdog disappeared in the bun.
Atleast when I got home the burger was good and my husband did enjoy the chili. The cheese steak was a no go it was not very good.
I would only recommend this stop as a last resort.

Stopped here after hiking, had the burger and a bloody mary. Bloody mary was delish! Burger was really good, husband had the chili and he had high praise. Alex, the bartender was friendly and easy to talk to. We’ll definitely be back!

The burger was decent, but on the cheapest Sysco buns and toppings possible. It was definitely nothing special. It’s a cash only restaurant, but doesn’t post that information. I had to use their atm machine that charges a $4 service fee to pay for my $9 mediocre burger.

Our new weekend place to get out of town and have such good food. Without the city prices, we will be back all the time. Leaving the Lake and being able to stop into such a relaxing environment makes it worth the drive! Love this place. Definitely get the chili either a bowl, chili dog, or even the open faced chili burger! There were 3 of us and we spent about $12 each for full meal and a drink!

We got the burger special each .10.99 burger and miller highlife bottle. Ice cold the beer. The burger was so good you didn’t need cheese. Service was decent .You’re eating at picnic tables. So you can’t expect fancy. Cash only but ATM on premises $4.00 fee.

As a self-proclaimed foodie I have been struggling to find mom & pop restaurants that check all of the boxes since moving to the West Valley. Well tonight I discovered the Wild Horse West restaurant located in Peoria near Lake Pleasant. If you blink you will miss this hidden oasis located in a gravel parking lot off W. Carefree Hwy. The moment we walked into this unique establishment which is part dive bar and part grill, we received a genuinely warm and friendly greeting from Paul, the kitchen manager. This one off eatery established in 1969, hasn’t changed a bit according to Paul. This place serves mostly burgers, hotdogs, chili, Philly cheesesteak sandwiches, and soup with chips, no fries. Just pull up a picnic table with a red & white plastic checkerboard table cloth and place your order with their amazing staff who will bring a complimentary bowl of their delicious chili to sample. The meats are locally sourced. My wife and I both ordered bacon jalapeño cheeseburgers. (with a side of chips) We both felt transported back in time. These are your mother’s homemade cheeseburgers & chips. Absolutely delicious with flavor for days, cooked to a perfect medium temperature. Very chill very patriotic vibe. Highly recommend!!
