What a fun dining experience! Cozy looking g cabin styled building with nice outdoor patio dining. My husband & son both had the Elk burgers & said the patties were very juicy & full of flavor! I had the Hunter stew chock full of fresh veggies & all the various sausages. The fries were Amazing! We brought a cooler to take home Elk burgers & Elk & venison ground beef. Good beer selection!! Make sure to walk over to the Apple Gin Nextdoor!

We have visited the Old Apple Barn before & planned to eat at the restaurant Wild Game Bistro this time. It has a variety of options for your family. My son enjoyed the Bison burger, my daughter the chicken basket & mac & cheese. My husband & I enjoyed the beef burger, delicious! We enjoyed the outside seating/ picnic tables. The frozen lemonade was especially refreshing.

Not a cheap place to eat out, but quite delicious food! We both had the bison burger and tried their mac and cheese and sodas. I would come back here again. It was very tasty and a fun environment. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Ate here with the family during the COVID-19 pandemic. They ask that you wear a mask while ordering inside. Eating tables and shade/canopies provided outside where you eat and no masks are required there. Tasty food, friendly service. Took a while to get the food, but I wasn’t in a rush (enjoyed sitting outside and taking in the beautiful scenery).

Spoiler…..The perfect road side restaurant to stop and enjoy not a good meal. More like great meal! Spent the day in White Sands to day and decided to stop in and grab lunch. Was so worth it.
I had the Bison Burger with the Wild Boar Bacon. 1st time ever having that type of bacon. Must say the combination of the bacon and bison was outstanding.
The pickle chips had the right amount of batter and spice to them. Highly recommend. Didn’t take any food photos. Remembered after after I had eaten the burger.
So I’d you’re traveling thru Cloudcroft/Mayhill to WhiteSands or vice versa. Definitely recommend stopping in and having some great food.

Where to start….ugh….. So i ordered sweet tea and a BYO salad with grilled chicken….. If you cook steak to order i EXPECTED the chicken too be fresh. Only 2 pieces were even warm! You can tell this chicken is old. (I didn’t eat the chicken. See pic below)
Let’s get to this tea. Ice tea shouldn’t look like muddy water. And it’s the nastiest tea I’ve ever drank in my 35 years of living! Now i did ask for a new tea, bc i thought the first one was unsweetened. It wasn’t. Its gross.
(The manager gave a full cash refund for the chicken and tea) and she apologized for it 2!

Just happened upon this place while visiting Cloudcroft for the first time. Tried the bison and it was great! Prepared perfectly and tasty. Great atmosphere and right next to the Old Apple Barn to go shopping before or after.

This place is awesome! We had the Bison Burger with green chili and smoked cheese! We also had the pickle chips (deep fried pickle slices) with spicy ranch sauce and onion blossom petals. The bread was deliciously grilled, lending a bit of crusty crunch. Pile on red onion slices, a thick slice of tomato and summer fresh greens. When your done with all of that, walk next door to the Apple Barn and get a slice of some scrumptious Apple Pie (like we did!) or any other sweet delicious pie. Check out the gift shop for a locally crafted item or find something you can’t live without to take home as a reminder of the beautiful Sacramento mountains. If your ever on your way to Cloudcroft from Alamagordo you MUST stop in High Rolls and eat here! No disappointment!
