There are not very many places to eat in the area and we stopped in wild catch Cafe. We ordered the chowder which was very thick and creamy. It needed a little bit of seasoning. We also ordered the halibut and fries which was very good. And three of us had salmon burgers. They were done very well and had a good seasoning. If you’re in the area I would not hesitate to eat there. It was a little pricey but well worth it.

Lovely place! I went there on Tuesday. I heard their salmon burger was a gem so I had to try it. Man, it did not disappoint me. They charged me $29 though, not the price on the menu. They claimed they used higher quality salmon. I don’t know what they normally use but the salmon I got on that day was great. My husband got a burger; he also loved it. Their buns were nice and soft.
Ps. Salmon burger normally comes with pickles but I asked them to not add them

Cute, quaint cafe-style restaurant. We came for brunch. The food was good. We tried reindeer sausage and the three meat omelet.
Took off a star because it was confusing to know where to order and where to sit. There’s seating in the back, but no signs for how to get there. Also, the only menu was written up on a chalkboard. It would be nice to have a menu with descriptions of each food (for example, what is in the three-meat omelet).

Great restaurant with a wide variety of food. We tried the grilled cheese and fries, and they were delicious. Prices are reasonable too!

Happy tourist!
Our group of 6 booked a glacier tour and didn’t leave much time between arriving in Whittier and boarding our boat. Even though food was available on the cruise I was craving substance and the Wild Catch Cafe did not disappoint. The service was quick and friendly and the food was hot and delicious. I enjoyed a cup of reindeer chili (tastes like beef chili but it’s leaner & higher in protein). I shared a salmon burger and fries with a friend (highly recommend). And I tasted my girl friend’s fried halibut. I’m not trying to be dramatic when I say it was life changing! I’m from Oklahoma and I’ve never experienced this fresh of fish. My only regret is that I live too far away to be a regular. Side note: they have a restroom so no need to walk in the cold to the public restroom on the corner.

Took a trip on the Alaska RR and enjoyed stopping here for both lunch and dinner. The reindeer chili was a great lunch choice, and the fish/halibut and chips/fries on the dinner ride back was also very good. Very good portions on the fish and fries and a bowl of chili will fill you right up. It’s just a smidge spicy and they serve it with toast. Overall a very good experience. Thank you!!

Ate the fish & chips. We expensive but tasty. Fries were good too. Kind Asian lady from Texas took our order. ❤️ Recommended but pricey.

Showed up late on the 4th of July and these great Americans were still open! Halibut Fish and Chips were phenomenal! Customer service from Elizabeth and her team was spectacular! If you visit Whittier, give these folks your business! You will not be disappointed!

Stopped by for lunch after doing a morning tour in Whittier. Luckily, it wasn’t a time when one of the big boats arrived, so there wasn’t any wait at all. Was able to walk right up, place my order, and grab an open table on the patio. Service was very prompt and friendly.

Ordered a few Alaskan beers, Salmon Filet Burger, and Halibut Fish & Chips. Food was brought out to my table within 10-15 minutes and looked amazing. The Salmon was a nice cut of meat that was grilled to perfection. The Halibut had a nice crispy batter that added crunch, but didn’t take away from the taste of the Halibut. The patio tables gave a nice view of the surrounding mountains and water. Perfect place to grab a bite and enjoy the sights and sounds of Whittier.

Really enjoyed our halibut and chips – so good! but… at $32 per plate Ouch! hence 3 stars! a little overpriced – wait ! a lot overpriced. Portions of food was fair. 3 small pieces of haibut. Order in front and if you want inside dining its in the back. They also offer amazing coffee. Service was friendly. Would I go again – nope.
