I love this place. Old time diner feel. Large portions and reasonable prices. Friendly service.

Stopped on our last morning of camping for an easy breakfast with my daughter. Our waitress was amazing & so friendly!!! The food was spectacular!!!!! Loved the nostalgic, classic cafe feel, the food did not disappoint. Took our desserts to go, as we were to full to eat, but we couldn’t pass them up. They were in fact delicious when we got back to our camesite!!! This is a definite must stop, and somewhere we will absolutely be coming back to!!

Old style very friendly cafe, since 1922, located in Cotton Minnesota on Highway 53. Had no idea it was there until I saw it on facebook. Large and spacious dining area with benches, tables, and counter seating. The Apple French toast was great! Daily specials posted on Facebook.

Wilbert Cafe is a nice clean restaurant. We stopped in for a quick breakfast on the way home from fishing. The staff were friendly and the food was excellent. I love the small hometown feel. It was busy for breakfast, but our food came out fast. Thank you for a great meal!

On a trip to the Iron Range we stopped at Wilbert initially for lunch. This has been a staple of what I call the South Range for 101 years which is quite an accomplishment. Had their homemade meat loaf and mashed potatoes. In addition the meal included corn and a white roll. Was everything you look for regarding good comfort food. For an appetizer started things off with a delicious cup of the Wilbert hamburger and cabbage soup that really hit the spot. My girlfriend had a side salad with their grilled hamburger which she said was very good. On a side note, since we had a nice lunch, on the way back we returned for dinner. Had a pasty which is a pastry filled with meat, onions, potatoes, carrots and rutabaga. Pasties are a staple of the Iron Range and the taste was fantastic. Only slight complaint was the outer crust edge was so hard you couldn’t eat it. My girlfriend had their chicken tenders with fries and a cup of the hamburger cabbage soup which were all very tasty. Easy parking leading right up to the building. Service was excellent from both our lunch and dinner waitresses. Highly recommend Wilbert Cafe for anyone driving up highway 53 to and from the Iron Range.

I’ve been coming here for nearly 2 decades now. Normally the food is great almost every time, I always order the same thing. But in the last couple months, the last 2 times in a row, I ordered a cheeseburger the patty was all pink on the inside. The former time was worse cause there was even some red. Burger patties are never supposed to be pink on the inside. That’s not done being cooked. Often when I ordered here in in the past just the center of the patty would be a little pink cause they’re very thick, and I’d just eat around it. But never has the entire inside been pink before. So if you order a burger from here now you better check the patty before biting into it. Obviously I’m hoping they’ll change something so that no one has to worry about their burger patty possibly being pink inside anymore.

We’ve had issues with other restaurants in the past couple years just like this. Those restaurants had been good for years and years and never had any problems but suddenly it’s like no one knows how to cook anymore, we’ve even gotten sick a couple times and when we told them about it it’s like they didn’t even really care. So we stopped going to them and it’s a real bummer cause we really liked those places. I don’t want Wilbert to be another one to go on the list of places we no longer go to because of undercooked food. I’ll change my review if/when I get a properly cooked burger from them again. And tbf idk when that will be, especially since we just had 2 disappointments in a row.

Excellent comfort food. Something for almost everyone on the menu. The Coconut Cream Pie was phenomenal! I highly recommend it. Update 4/6/2025: second visit was just as good as the first. Coconut Cream Pie was still the best I’ve had. Meal was good too. French fries are delicious. Worth the stop!

Food is about what you’d expect but the veggies were terrible. My kids couldn’t stand the corn at all. It’s also $3-$5 per meal more expensive than I thought it would be. Server was nice.
