While on vacation in the Palm Springs area, we kept seeing Wienerschnitzel everywhere and knew we had to try it—my husband and I both love hot dogs.
We stopped at one of the more unique, historic A-frame locations where you place your order and then drive straight through the center of the building to pick it up. This location doesn’t have indoor seating, but it does have a very large outdoor seating area, so just keep that in mind. From what I understand, some of the newer locations do offer indoor seating.
The menu includes hot dogs, hamburgers, and chicken, but we stayed classic and went with hot dogs. My husband ordered a Chicago dog and a chili cheese dog with mustard. I went with the Junkyard Dog and a chili cheese dog, plus we shared an order of chili cheese fries. We also upgraded to all-beef hot dogs.
Overall, it was a fun experience. My husband really enjoyed his hot dogs. While I’ve had better hot dogs elsewhere, everything was well cooked and the toppings tasted fresh. The chili isn’t spicy, but it has good flavor, and I appreciated being able to add sauerkraut to my dog.
Would this be a regular stop for us? Probably not—but we’re glad we tried it. It was a fun, casual, and uniquely retro experience that felt very “on theme” for Palm Springs.

Nice place in Indio to grab a chili dog when you’re by the courthouse or if you wanna go to the fairgrounds. The Helper real friendly. I like the specials that they have reoccurring at the store. My favorite special is the tortilla, french fries chili dog. Wiener Wednesday is on Wednesdays and you get discount wieners. If you’re in Indio, stop at Wienerschnitzel. Check out the new paint job! The patio is awesome

Just went by the drive thru and they have a new AI system that doesn’t seem to put in the orders correctly. I ordered 2 beef chili cheese dogs but when I got to the window the cashier told me they weren’t beef. They made it a big deal to change it and wanted me to go back around and re order at the speaker. They ended up giving me the order at the window and after asking if it was the beef chili cheese the cashier said yes. I get home and open the food and it did not have cheese. Worst location in the desert.

I’ve loved eating here since I was a kid. I would go or order from here more than any other restaurant, but recently, I’ve kept getting served undercooked fries for my chili cheese fries(my favorite) every time. The fries are white and soggy. That looks like it just came out of the freezer instead of the fryer. I’ll probably have to go somewhere else if this keeps happening. I’ve gotten sick once from this.

UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT ❤️
I am amazed at the drastic change and improvements. Building looks alot cleaner, service is faster and friendlier. Enjoyed my recent experience. Thank you!!!! Food was delicious so good i didnt have a chance to take a picture!!! Next time most definately. LOVE!!!
Needs to update closing time. Apparently they close at 10:59pm on Thursday. Even tho Google says midnight.
Update June 2023. Noting this to never come this location again. At least for a while. I’m going to have to drive all the way to Bermuda dunes for my chili cheese bacon ranch craving. I always ask for easy ranch. And it’s always good. Today employees were acting weird and staring thru the window as I was ordering. When I got home my fries had extra ranch only to find out they drowned it in ranch to cover up the nasty raw bacon they put in my fries. Normally I would go back and address the problem but yuck. I don’t want to deal with the bad service.

I love Weinerschnitzel. This is a place with the traditional building where you drive through the middle of the A frame building. Outside seating only. It was 116f the day I went so that was not an option. I had two dogs with sauerkraut and two chili dogs with the all beef hot dogs. I enjoyed both. Service was quick and the dogs prepared correctly. They supplied enough napkins which I needed on the chili dogs. Well done.

The A.I. ordering sucks. Then some little snobby dude comes on and says that is what the A.I. said. These people need to learn customer service. Shame because the food is good. Won’t be coming back. 2 times in a row the actual customer service frankly, sucked!

1. Outdated, Tiny drive-thru (under a pitched roof), and the parking lot makes it difficult to get in and out.
2. Tables, floors, windows, and drive-thru window shelf are always dirty.
3. Every time I’ve had fries here, they were cooked in very old, burnt oil – and came out dark and nasty-tasting.
I’ve only been inside once and the condition of the place made me never want to go back. I would recommend avoiding this location. Perhaps, in the near future, someone will give this place a remodel, a face-lift, or a deep-cleaning.
