Great place to eat. The French toast, potatoes, and eggs were flavorful and delicious. The bacon not too overdone nor floppy, a goldilocks perfect. The coffee was really good too, not burnt at all and you can taste the underlying flavors pretty easily – loved it! The service was attentive and accommodating with ease; the food coming out at a good pace. Much parking too, with parking in the front and behind the establishment. Plenty of seats inside, from regular tables and chairs to a few booths. Very clean inside and the lights were easy on the eyes. They have a good menu between breakfast, sandwiches, and dinner options as well as appetizers and drinks. Highly recommend.

Heard lots about the breakfast here on social media so we went it to give them a try. They were moderately busy when we got there, but we were served right away. The menu is filled with all the popular breakfast items (pancakes, omeletes, bisucits & gravy, etc). A sign says that they have the best coffee and I will say it was pretty good!
We tried their biscuits & gravy and also their country fried steak. The gravy on both was rather basic and bland, lacking black pepper which we’re used to in breakfast sausage gravy. The potatoes looked like they were nicely seasoned, but were a little on the bland side and needed lots of salt & pepper. The scrambled eggs were decent. Service overall was adequate.
Overall, it was decent. We can see why they’re popular, though we prefer a little more seasonings in our food.

While I understand the need to support small local businesses, they can do better. The sausage gravy was very non-descript almost flavorless. The rest of the plate was similar to any diner food you could get at a better price. I am sure similar to other reviewers including my own, the higher ratings are for supporting local. With a simple menu and higher price point food should be “wow”, but it was not. 3 star food vs. value. 4 stars for supporting a fellow veteran.

If I could I would give them a 100 ⭐! Their food was amazing, my son-in-law ordered an appetizer that looked like an egg roll, but had the depth and flavor of something I can’t recall (I’m writing this days later) but it was so delicious, the small dish was devoured in minutes. For our main courses as we were there during breakfast hours, my son-in-law and I ordered the special (steak and eggs), it came with potatoes, and toast but I ordered a side of grits too. My daughter ordered the Uncle ****** (sorry forgot his name but it was the 2nd one on the menu) and it had french toast, eggs, potatoes, and choice of protein (she picked bacon -always a good choice). EVERYTHING and I mean everything was amazing! The steaks were huge and cooked perfectly, the grits were just right, my daughter could not stop talking about her french toast. We left STUFFED.
I don’t know if the gentleman who served us was the owner or manager or just had that much pride in the establishment, but he was attentive, courteous, and friendly. If you go there, and I highly recommend you do, say hi for this old Marine and her Marine family.
The inside of the Widewater Grille is very clean. I wouldn’t expect anything less from a retired Marine working the helm. My only gripe (and yes I understand we went on a day the snow was melting causing a huge mess) is that the parking lot was quite muddy. So I need to go during a “regular” day when the snow hasn’t mucked up so much.
Overall impression – LOVED IT must go

Fantastic diner you need to go to when you are in the area. I though I could make an acceptable biscuits and gravy at home and this place showed me otherwise. I would fight someone for their biscuits and gravy any day of the week. Their food elevated my mood and made my day.

This is one the best breakfast outside of my own that I’ve had in a long time. From the service to the food was absolutely amazing. Chris and his family has a hidden gem in Stafford. If you live in this area or visiting this is a MUST stop in and try. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Very nice family run restaurant. Great but simple menu of all the regular home type things. Prices are reasonable and since Dumfries Cafe closed, although a bit farther for me, may definitely become my next morning go-to diner.

My wife and I came here and ate ealry in the morning. The place was clean, the service was great, and the food was amazing. My wife had the vegetarian omelet and I had the big breakfast. The food was seasoned very well and tasted great. I suggest you give them a try.
