In an area with a ton of different BBQ places and a level of competition that is really tough, this place stands out.
Yes, it is actually run by a family and it shows, you might find an older member of the clan around for a great conversation.
The food, particularly the brisket is really good. I have worked at several BBQ places over time and it’s easy to get sick of it after that experience, but this was quality and great tasting.
They also have an excellent amount of variety, which is hard to find in a place that also maintains good quality.
Really worth visiting!

Shrimp was excellent, ribs were a bit dry but I think it was just the end of the day. Will try again.
The turkey leg, the TURKEY leg… I’m here for this. Don’t need to go to a fair now.
Sides did not disappoint either. Mac and cheese and sweet potatoes crunch is great!
You can eat inside. Very spacious, quiet and peaceful. Can really sit and enjoy your meal. No TVs or music playing, just you and your family enjoying a meal together.
Will definitely support and tell everyone to go and support!

Is there any food that is more subjective to review than BBQ!? This place has great reviews, but we didn’t really care for it. Doesn’t mean it’s bad BBQ, just that we prefer our BBQ prepared differently. Best of luck to the owners and employees of this establishment!
Great: The Sides! Fried Okra, Baked Beans, Zucchini & Squash were all great.
Good: Sliced Briskit, Damn Hot & Original BBQ Sauces.
Not So Good: The sausage, Mac n Cheese, and the cornbread.
Overall: Decent BBQ, but lots of room for improvement.

Food was great! The cashier was so polite and the atmosphere was nice. I loved the fact that they show your food in front of you to ensure everything is correct. They also have vegan meals as well which sounded tasty. It was my first time there and I even ordered my mom and bought my brother as well. They loved it!! I had the brisket with moonshine bbq sauce and the sausage. We also tried their swai which was seasoned well and it was fresh. My favorite was the sweet potato crunch. Loved it!!! Definitely recommend

I drop in from time to time to mainly order side items or turkey legs. The food is tasty, but my complaint is with portion size and pricing. The competition normally give you what you pay for but Wholly Smoke refused to. Before I ordered I asked to see the serving sizes for the sweet potato crunch and I was quoted a price. I accepted and paid for the family size bc my kids likes it to. I was given a family size cup with a little over half filled. I asked if they can add more and I was told, no…. they only serve 3 scoops. OK then why have such big cups? This isn’t my first experience with this issue and I’m disappointed. Buckeys serve the same item, same price, correct portions.

Today I met Tha Lord’s personal Pit Master. James, Marquita, and crew served up a delicious taste of heaven. The brisket, pulled pork, and chicken wings tantalized my tastebuds. And you will NOT be disappointed with the delicious sides, sauces, and desserts. Thank you Wholy Smoke for the amazing customer service and dining experience. Place seemed very clean. Huge selection of seafood as well as BBQ, lots of sauces to choose. My honey got the brisket dinner with coleslaw & okra. He rated the brisket an 8 (compared to his which is a 10, of course!) I got the chopped pork with potato salad and okra. Frankly I couldn’t eat it as it was wayyyy too much fat & even bones.The cornbread was soooo good! Fluffy with just the right hint of sweet, almost like a dessert cake. The sides were good and the people friendly. I would definitely go back but try one of the seafood options. I understand from other customers we talked to that the hot dogs are a big favorite, too.

Pulled pork is closer to chopped pork. Flavor was solid, bark plentiful but it also felt exceptionally fatty. The brisket actually had equal amounts of fat. Sweet potato crunch was very mild compared to a place like mutts. Mac and cheese was a bit soggy but well peppered. Cornbread was slap your granny good. I would go with a 4/5 but being prompted to tip before service is a huge turnoff. Owner seemed like a very nice guy.

This place was such a great surprise for the vegan community! I saw on a local page they were offering vegan “chicken” wings which were more like nuggets and wow they were sooo good, I had to go back and ask to make sure I got the right food it tasted so close to chicken! The sweet potato crunch was so good as were the fried green beans! I can’t wait to come back here again!!

Wholy Smokes… this meat is unmatched. Me and my husband got the small family meal with 1lb brisket and 1lb chicken with a side of yellow rice and apple cobbler; the meat is next level. Hands down THE best meat I’ve ever had from a barbecue joint. The chicken here is a real standout, it’s the best chicken I’ve had period – not just from a barbecue place but overall it’s the best. Seasoned incredibly, great ratio of crispy ends to juicy meat, and the spicy gold SLAPS. I’m not from Texas, so I don’t know how they do it there, but here in SC this gold sauce is the best I’ve had. The apple cobbler is homemade and delicious. I’d skip the yellow rice next time just because it was a little bland for me but it’d be a good side to compliment the very well seasoned meats. I’m excited to try more sides next time The owner was there and thanked my husband who was picking up the order, very kind customer service from the owner and most of the staff! Only negative was one of our sauces on the side wasn’t closed and leaked all over the bag on the way home, but it didn’t get into anything because they wrapped it well, so I’m only heartbroken about missing some of the sauce oh and the cornbread is delicious.
TRY THIS PLACE. Not to be a hater but it’s way better than SBH.
