Great food, but limited selection (which they will be adding menu items soon). Good wine selection and awesome views if you get there during daylight hours. Small and quaint setting.

We ate dinner at The White Buffalo while staying at Chipeta Lodge, and it was the perfect way to spend our holiday dinner. Having the restaurant open on Christmas made the whole evening feel easy and cozy, especially being able to walk just a few steps from our room.
Happy hour had great options. Cocktails included a well-made Aviation, a mule, and a gimlet, along with solid cider, beer, and NA choices. The happy hour menu featured wings, chile relleno bites, and a variety of dips, and they also served warm corn nuts at the bar, which was a fun and tasty touch.
For dinner, we ordered the filet mignon special and the smash burger, and both were delicious. We finished with the house-made pumpkin pie, and I’m not exaggerating when I say it was some of the best pie I’ve ever had.
The food was tasty and the staff was friendly. As a bonus, deer wandered through outside while we ate, which made the beautiful mountain setting even better. Definitely recommend whether you’re staying at the lodge or just passing through town.

Beautiful restaurant for breakfast or dinner. Highly recommend trying anything on this menu as they are all fantastic options. Everything was perfectly curated and we enjoyed every bite.
The fillet mignon was just melt in your mouth beautiful, the veggies were well paired.
The bread and butter pudding was a highlight too.
The cocktail menu was fabulous and the mocktails are very impressive!
To top it off they have fantastic views of the mountains.

But the view was second to the service! We enjoyed an early dinner with Rhonda as our server. She was delightful and gave wonderful recommendations. We are so excited to go back and try their new menu that is coming out in a couple weeks. We will request Rhonda as our server if possible. She is special. We celebrated a birthday and each of us enjoyed our meals.

Went here for dinner Sept 28. Had the flat bread and berry crisp for dessert. That night became very ill. Felt better when had vomited this dinner out. I had nothing else to eat or drink that evening. When brought this to attention of manager she said had not received any other complaints and suggested I had a 24 hour virus. I know it was not a virus.

We made a reservation online (in a screen full of wide open reservation options). Showed up 5-10 minutes before said reservation, and the restaurant was a ghost town. I double checked the hours; nothing out of the ordinary, and were there for dinner time. We walked around the restaurant, walked outside on the patio, walked back in, and waited for 5-10 minutes more before we decided to leave. Bizarre, similar to the other reviews. We were excited for the menu. Not meant out of malice, but meant to share.

We had such an amazing experience at White Buffalo. My husband and I just moved here from West Arvada Colorado in October of 2024. We had a visitor from out of state, and we took him to this restaurant. Everyone was so amazing. The food was phenomenal. Looking over the mountains was incredible. The staff was welcoming and kind. How lucky are we to have this beautiful restaurant in our backyard. I had the filet, and our friend had the lamb. I believe my husband had the ribs, and we all had the prickle pear margaritas. Yum! Thank you, White Buffalo, for such a beautiful time. Moving was hard for me, but everyone has been welcoming and kind. We will be back!

Really good find that is out of the way. We went here for lunch and it was amazing. Great service and good food. It was light enough to have a really satisfying lunch without weighing us down. The view was amazing and we were the only people there. I would highly reccomend you check this out and give it a shot.

A perfect, cozy winter evening experience in a wonderful arts town in the San Juan Mountains. The staff was attentive, very accommodating to dietary needs. The menu is creative and the kitchen clearly experienced. The wine and beer selection well thought out, and both cocktails we ordered were novel (thankfully!) not sweet. This a very different place than is was before it changed ownership last year.
