What a great place! Everyone knew everyone and it was charming to hear all the conversations about local happenings. The food is just great food, done really well. Oh my goodness the pies!! What ever you order….save room for the pies!! It was a great experience and if given the chance, we will definitely be back!

Cute little place with a mom and pop feel. 2 lunch specials, 1 burger, 3 drinks, and a slice of pie was $60 before tax and tip. I’m adding pics of the menu, but they have signs up that due to raising food costs they add $2 to each item.

Great old home breakfast in a historic setting. It was a step back in time, the way we’d go to Ft Worth before the new highway. Very nice people & good service. Not to be missed.

My family of 7 was taking our oldest daughter to Dallas airport to fly back to college. We stopped here on the drive. This was great food and service, with an old fashioned diner feel. When you step through the door you feel like you step back in time to the 50’s and 60’s. The old petrified wood stone building is small and won’t hold a large amount of customers. But that gives it a cozy feel for the customers inside. Even the plates and dinnerware’s were a retro to a childhood memories of old diners. Real ceramic plates. Cups were the old fashioned indestructible hard plastic cups of decade’s past not those styrofoam cups of today that get littered onto our roads. The food was fresh cooked and a pleasure to the taste buds. They also had fresh baked pies for dessert out on the counters to make the mouth water. Ohhhh – did I ever want some of the chocolate pie. But I had my limit of sugar intake for the day and couldn’t really get a piece no matter how badly I desired it. This was a Wonderful nostalgic experience. If anyone goes here. Go not just for the food but the experience of a little nostalgia. Set back . Put the cell phones down like they don’t exist. Talk to the family and friends around the table, Relax and enjoy a treat of nostalgia and food. And don’t forget to get a piece of old-fashioned chocolate pie for me.

Very good place, I stopped in Decatur for a quick bite to eat and left very full the biscuits and gravy were very rich n flavor and u can say the biscuit was amazing, I loved every aspect of the cafe. The old diner feel the old town vibe. To the locals talking about the local talent and how they are playing state champions, super dope, I gotta go back and try the chili and the pies they looked very good

What a great experience! We placed our breakfast order and were eating in just over 5 minutes. My food was hot and cooked perfect, I had a veggie omelette with a biscuit some gravy and hash browns. We read a few reviews before coming here which were kinda of negative, but decided to give it a try anyway. So glad we did, others reviews suggested there was a long wait time between ordering and eating, but we practically had no wait. The restaurant isn’t huge & I can see it filling up quick so get here early. If you pass this place up, you are missing out on a treat. The restaurant is family owned and they want your business, I was never overlooked and my glass was never empty. They cook all sorts of food and even homemade pies, the kind your great grandma made when you were a kid. If you never got to experience that, here is your chance!

Traveling through Grapevine and then dropping down into Decatur we decided to stop at the Whistle Stop Cafe. When we walked in the door we were greeted, but it was not cheerful. It was kind of like one more customer. Which I kind of hated for a shop that has food the way they do! I will say that our personal waitress was new and she was very kind and helpful. It was the initial contact that we had that was somewhat unwelcoming. We were motioned to sit down at a table, which was a dirty table. Thankfully I had bath & body works spray in my purse and so I sprayed, wiped down and sanitized our table. The lady that motioned us to the table did not do that for us. Our waitress came up later after we had been seated. So I do not think there was any way she would have known it was a dirty table. Long story short we ended up ordering a chicken fried steak, which my daughter and I shared!! It was big and wonderful! The rolls were hot and the green beans were very good. My husband got a grilled ham and cheese and my son got a child’s plate with quesadillas and their chips. Their chips were home-made. They were really good. He really enjoyed them along with their salsa. The food here is great! It is a hole in the wall, unique and fun restaurant. If the service was a notch higher and a bit kinder it would make this little restaurant an all around hit. Perhaps we stopped on a bad day. We all have them. So give this little place a try. Hopefully your food and experience will be great! Certainly worth a stop in a place very used by locals!!

Cute little country diner. Nothing crazy fancy. I had a bacon cheeseburger, not a top 5 burger that I’ve ever had but not bad at all. Fries were very good. I gave this place 5 stars because the pecan pie was amazing and the fries made up for the average burger.
