Looking for a classic original burger place, YOU FOUND IT!! Tasty burgers, amazing prices, friendly customer service. We were welcomed with a smile and relatively quick service for fresh burgers. They serve burgers, chips, and drinks. I enjoy the location and the history of little historic places like Whistler’s.

If you’re looking for a sprawling dining hall with valet parking, linen napkins, and a harpist gently playing in the background, then let me save you the trip — Whistlers Drive‑Up is not that place.
This establishment is small. And when I say small, I mean a standard suburban nuclear family ordering dinner could easily reach “standing room only” conditions. Street-side parking, no seating, and barely enough indoor real estate to host a heated debate about ketchup vs. mustard.
But that’s okay. It’s a drive-up, not a five-star steakhouse, and I adjusted my expectations accordingly.
Behind the counter were two women who clearly understood the assignment.
The younger one operated the griddle like a battlefield general. Patties, bacon, and slices of ham were spaced with near-military precision — the kind of symmetry that would make a geometry teacher shed a single proud tear. Her demeanor was calm, focused, and professional, like someone who had accepted the sacred responsibility of burger excellence.
She also took our order, multitasking with the quiet confidence of someone who knows exactly what they’re doing.
The second woman emerged from the back like the cavalry — friendly, efficient, and ready to handle the register. Our financial transaction briefly escalated into what could only be described as The Great Two-Cent Standoff of the Late Morning.
I didn’t want 98¢ in my pocket.
She didn’t want to hand out 98¢.
Diplomacy prevailed. The dollar immediately went into the tip jar. Peace was restored. The economy survived.
Now, about the food.
When the burger arrived, I will admit… my first thought was that it looked a little small. Not insultingly small — more like “this burger skipped leg day.”
But considering the price, it was perfectly fair.
Then I took the first bite.
Ladies and gentlemen… redemption.
Every doubt I had about this place was immediately sucker-punched straight through my skull. The flavor density of this burger could only be described as culinary C4 — a compact explosive device made entirely of beef, bacon, ham, cheese, and questionable life choices.
Could I have made healthier eating decisions that day?
Absolutely.
Can I hear my arteries filing a formal complaint with upper management?
Also yes.
Do I regret anything?
Not even slightly.
If you want a quiet place to sit and reflect on your life choices, look elsewhere.
But if you want a small burger that hits like a freight train made of flavor, Whistlers Drive‑Up might just be your new favorite roadside stop.

Do yourself a favor and get these burgers. Their quality doesn’t ever decline, their service is efficient and friendly. They’ve got seating outside and space to wait inside too, with good tunes playing. The beef, bacon, and ham are all bursting with flavor and super juicy.

This is a burger joint that you can’t pass up, if you do you will regret it. This place has been around for years and they try to keep with the tradition of how things used to be. Cheap simple burgers with amazing flavor is what they are known for. Upon first opening the door to the take it to go burger joint the powerful smell of these burgers hits you in the face and you start salivating if you weren’t already before. I personally was left thinking if the burgers taste as good as they smell they will be amazing; the burgers did not disappoint. The patty sizes are small (2 oz.) so keep that in mind when ordering. A simple hamburger comes with mustard, onion, and pickle. We ordered no onion on ours. We also ordered the pork and bull which was a burger with ham on it and the farm with cheese which was a burger with ham and bacon. This place appears to keep busy however they had no trouble at all getting us our food cooked fresh and quickly in around 5 minutes timeframe. Although it was a take it to go place, there were picnic benches and shade nearby to eat. We will definitely stop here again when driving through town.

I also posted a review on yelp about this place I will say the burgers are very good. But the service absolutely sucks the young girl working the register has a nasty attitude and looks at you like you are stupid. Definitely not the place to go if you are wanting to feel welcomed and appreciated for your business. Editing this post looks like there’s more people who don’t like this red headed girl. What a joke of a person

When I come back home to Carthage I always make a point to stop in to pick up a bag of burgers from Whisler’s! It was such a treat when I was a kid growing up in Carthage and they still taste as good as they did 50 and 60 years ago!

Loved it! The staff is amazing and very friendly. When I showed up there were 2 Carthage police waiting for their orders. Anytime you see police eating at an establishment, usually its a good place to eat! I got 3 single patty cheeseburgers. These are 2oz. patties so if you order a burger, please take that into consideration. I got everything on mine, onions, ketchup, mustard and pickles. A must try if you are looking for a burger in the Carthage area!
