This place was so much fun to visit. The decor and the old shows they had playing take you back in time. It’s very relaxed, no one is rushing you to get out. The waitresses were wonderful, I asked about the coleslaw, and they brought out a sample for me to try before ordering. We got a plate to share, I loved the beef ribs! My husband is a fan of pretzels, and he loved them as well. Overall, it was a great place to enjoy a hearty meal.

This was an incredible experience!!! The food was amazing, but the atmosphere was what sold it to me. This is not your usual BBQ establishment. This is a place where you can enjoy a great meal, have a nice glass or two, and relax to some older country music in a contemporary setting. I highly recommend visiting this place and bringing the entire family as this is a very family-friendly setting. Will be a returning customer.

Best barbecue in town! They have delicious tri-tip, sliders, and brisket burgers. They also have loaded baked potatoes, and the best tomahawks in town. They have steaks and ribs too. The owners are super nice and really care about their customers.

Best Ribeye Steak in Redding! Juicy, thick and delicious. If you want a good steak this is the place. Tri tip, beans and macaroni & cheese were also delicious. Great service. Highly recommend!

Recently, my friends and I placed and pickup order for Whiskeytown Barbecue. We all we’re excited to try the new restaurant, especially one friend who holds certification as a BBQ judge from the Kansas City Barbecue Society. Regrettably, our experience didn’t fully meet our expectations.
Our main order of tri-tip, an essential item in any BBQ enthusiast’s book, did not hit the mark. It was somewhat overcooked and lacked uniformity in its preparation. Moreover, the traditional practice of slicing against the grain, which ensures tenderness, was overlooked, resulting in a tougher texture. This is an easy fix and we hope it’s addressed in the future.
The barbecue sauce provided was acceptable, but it didn’t quite have the distinctive, memorable flavor one hopes for when enjoying a BBQ feast. A standout sauce could potentially have elevated the overall experience despite our other observations.
We also tried their highly recommended beans, which, unfortunately, didn’t live up to their hype. They were a bit watery and bland, and could have benefited from a longer cooking time. As BBQ lovers, we know how a fantastic side dish can complement and enhance the main event, and it was disappointing to find these beans missed the mark.
To sum up our impression of Whiskeytown Barbecue, is that it may be a venture borne of a passionate hobby, and there’s a charm to that. However, to cater to more discerning BBQ aficionados, there is room for significant improvement. The intricacies of barbecue preparation that differentiate a good BBQ experience from a great one need some attention here. We share this review in a constructive spirit, with the hope that our feedback contributes to growth and refinement at Whiskeytown.

Waited over an hour for our food, the stools aren’t comfortable to sit in, it was outrageously expensive. This “platter” was $28. My dad cooks better tri tip, I would of rather driven an hour to my parents house to eat dinner. This place isn’t worth the money or the hype. Granted, the owner (I think?) Gave the kids (3) root beer floats but we didn’t want them because we just wanted out of there and weren’t about to wait another 40 minutes for soda and ice cream. They comped one sandwich because we didn’t want the root beer floats. We won’t be back. Wait Staff was incredible though!

We arrived around 5:45 on Sunday before they closed at 7 and they were out of ribs and ribeye. We ordered a beer before we knew they were out. The waitress was friendly. I ordered the stuffed pepper which was a hit! My husband had Tri Tip and it was moist and it came with salsa and Mac n cheese. The Tri-Tip comes with the beans and we did not know they were out of beans after the fact. I ordered the cowboy caviar and it had a nice flavor! It was our first time and it was kind of disappointing. Our next table had the ribs and apparently they were the last ones. The food is good but be sure you go there early before they run out. If I had known they were out, we would probably not order the beer and go somewhere else for steak. I give a 2 star because the food was good.

Atmosphere was fantastic. Food was good, definitely recommend the rack of ribs. However, dissapointed in the service, food was staggered so far apart some people were almost finished eating before the dishes came out. Was charged full price for the tri-tip salad, which was only the house size salad. Had to ask for the Tri-tip which came out 10 minutes later, $20. I usually do not leave negative reviews for the food industry, however there is room for great improvement here. The atmosphere is awesome and the food decent like stated above, the place has potential to grow. Items were forgotten and had to remind staff a few times. Appetizers should always come out first, not at end of meal.
