Wonderful food! Amazing cocktails! Top notch service! Cozy atmosphere with live music! This is a one of a kind offering for Rio rancho! Try one of the smoked cocktails, they are on point and make a perfect wingman for the elevated and well executed menu. We can’t wait to come back and try some of the other delicious items from the kitchen and bar!

Absolutely fire bar and food. Pretty rarely can you find a bar with good bar food bites but this really hit the spot. Location is convenient with lots of parking, and from the outside seems a little speakeasyish.
Food was superb with large portions, and the drinks were great. Selection for each was great and we liked everything we got. The atmosphere was really intimate with candle lit tables. It was nice.
Whiptail could benefit from a little more ambient cozy lighting and jazz music playing in the back for more of a romantic feel.

We went here for a wedding celebration, and the food and staff knocked it out of the park. Hands down the best Chicken Parmesan we’ve ever had. We also loved their charcuterie board and bread selection.

Had a very nice time here. Enjoyed our delicious cocktails we had a whiptail martini, limoncello drop (my favorite), Rio mojito, and two smoked old fashioned. For food we had bacon wrapped dates, The local fungi, whiptail burger, boa pork sliders, and mac and cheese. Everything was good besides the Mac and Cheese it was severely underwhelming and lacked flavor. Everything else was amazing will definitely be back.

Stellar local restaurant that deserves all the stars! Creative menu and excellent service to match. I couldnt decide so had a little bit of everything – brussel sprouts, risotto and onion rings. They also had some larger plates if you’re wanting a more traditional meal. Variety of booth, table and bar seating for groups of various sizes – this is top of my list when traveling through now!

Whoa! The thoughtfulness and love put into the food and drinks will keep you coming back! I highly recommend the Tequila Old Fashioned, it is smooth and has a sweet taste you wouldn’t expect…I’d order this just to enjoy the dehydrated orange peel that comes with it! The Tour of Italy is just as phenomenal on the palate…who would have thought that a balsamic syrup would be so tasty…it is! Now the food…the prime rib is full of flavor, tender, and melts in your mouth. It is served with an unbelievable au jus and is worth the $55 price. The chicken Philly, served with a single sweet pickle, was absolutely delicious… you get to pick your sauce (yes, Cheese Whiz is an option). The onion rings were fried to perfection, with a perfect garlic aoli! I’m a fan of chicarrones, but only at a favorite NM restaurant in the South Valley in ABQ, but oh my…the ones served at Whiptail is definitely different in a good way! The rub and agave go well together. We can’t wait to go back to discover more yummy “shareable plates”…but who wants to share when you find a favorite and want it all to yourself?

5 Stars and beyond!!!! The absolute best place I’ve been to in quite a while!!!! Such great service, delicious foods and super inventive cocktails!!! They explained their concept of using locally sourced ingredients and everything was made from scratch which was so cool!!!! We’re visiting from overseas and will definitely return!!!

My husband and I haven’t been out on a date in over a year and we went to Whiptail for the first time. The atmosphere was very comforting, yet classy and fun. We LOVED the food and our drinks were amazing. The shareable menu is different but definitely appealing and very doable price wise. My husband and I ordered two drinks, three items off the menu, and a dessert for only $70. That would be the same price as going out to eat at Chili’s or Applebee’s but with way better service, better food and drinks, and a more enjoyable atmosphere. Will DEFINITELY be returning very soon.
We also appreciated Jake with his knowledge on everything. He was super friendly, funny, and made us feel welcome!

Good food and service. Our server was the bartender. The ribeye was pricey but was fantastic! The appetizers were pretty awesome, too. Will come back on special occasions due to prices.
