It was nice to sit outside along the canal. Great service and good food. I was disappointed with the crab bisque, it was more like a watery, cream soup than a bisque. Chesapeak Crap Dip was worth it as was my catch of the day, Salmon.

Wheelhouse Bar & Grill is a good place to have a sandwich or dinner while sitting on a deck by the canal. I had a chicken caprese sandwich with a Caesar salad which was tasty, and my husband enjoyed a salmon BLT and salad. Service was average.

I’m not rushing back here. I was disappointed that the Happy Hour specials are only available at certain seating areas but that’s not the reason for only 3 stars. We sat outside and the specials were not available for us as we were having dinner. Although seated outside our view was of a fishing boat and couldn’t see any water. One highlight, or really the only highlight was watching a dog the entire dinner climb out of the water after chasing a ball again and again and again. Service was okay, not bad but nothing special.
Our party of 5 found the food to be nothing special. I had the Seafood Pot Pie. It was large and it was hot, but very one note. All the seafood inside tasted the same. Scallop’s, shrimp, crab and clam all tasted the same, even in texture. Fish tacos were fine and the special that night of Butter Shrimp looked great but disappointed with tough tasteless shrimp and the rice was unremarkable.
Worst thing were the bugs. Lots of gnats and a ton of flies landing on our food. This made the dinner for me 0 stars. Once the food came so did the flies. There was little to no wind that night and we were next to the water. Others farther back might have had less bugs. We did not ask to move, but should have. Still the food without the flies was average for what we ordered. There are better places.

I don’t normally write reviews, but this restaurant deserves much more love (review wise) than it has received. My wife and I visited Lewis beach today. After we were done, we were hungry and tired and looking for local seafood to satisfy our cravings. We came across WheelHouse. The front of house was kind, and attentive. They quickly got us seated and offered us the option of indoor or outdoor seating. Once seated, our server offered us ice cold water which was perfect under the scorching heat of today. Hunter, our server was kind, knowledgeable and very attentive. As busy as they were, we received our food within 10-20 minutes. Our food was fresh and beautifully crafted. To the owner/head chef: you make absolutely the best seafood pot pie, and crab cake melt. The fries were also the best I ever had in my lifetime. You felt like our own personal chef. To sum this up, this place has great service, amazing heart and should definitely be given a try! 10/10 recommend

Our pup had a great time at the restaurant’s patio by the water. We had a nice view of boats and water and our waitress was helpful by bringing water for our pup and very attentive to us. Crab cakes are big portions and delicious. The grilled grouper sandwich was delicious and big portions and highly recommended this

If you’re looking for dinner on the water, this is a great place to go. We enjoyed sitting outside looking out at the river. Food, service, and the live band were all great. I ordered their fresh catch of the day – wreckfish, first time trying and it was good! We definitely will be back.

Great spot on the canal. Had a wonderful pasta dish, with others in our party getting the shrimp po’boy, the salmon, and a burger. Service was terrific and the atmosphere lovely, overlooking the docks and canal. Highly recommended.

This past Sunday a group of friends and I took the ferry over to Lewes from Cape May. A few of us got separated from the group (bike troubles) and stopped in the wheelhouse. The four of us ate crab dip, shrimp, petite pink oysters, and nachos. Everything was fabulous but the crab dip and oysters were NEXT LEVEL. Oh- and the crush buckets… . On top of all of that, we had the sweetest server. I wish I could remember his name. Young guy- he smashed it. Later, the rest of our group (14 total) joined us. I communicated with the server as we wanted to keep him to make sure he got our table (& tip). He was great, accommodated for a large group quickly. We ended up splitting up again but he took care of the stragglers who stayed to grab a bite. Our whole group works at a waterfront restaurant in Cape May so we know and appreciate good service (especially with a rowdy group of servers/bartenders on their off day). This kid rocked. Managers take note!! You’ve got a good one!!

Amazing Thanksgiving dinner! Everything was delicious and perfect! We had a beautiful views while enjoying our Thanksgiving meal. The Chef and staff did an amazing job with the dishes that were prepared, and we will definitely be back to enjoy more meals at The Wheelhouse in Lewes! Outstanding service by Mariah!
