Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn’t help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we’re still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.

Circa-1950 fast-food chain for counter-serve burgers, some stacked with multiple patties.

This is my favorite Whataburger! This store is clean, the service is fast and accurate, and the food is always good. This Whataburger was renovated a few months ago and what they did was great. It’s light and airy in the restaurant. I eat here several times a week. The food is consistent and always good. What really stands out for me is the staff. They are all great. They welcome me with smiles and make me laugh. It makes my day to see Maria and Star.

Visited: Early morning around 6:30 AM
I stopped by Whataburger for a quick breakfast via the drive-thru, as it’s usually a reliable spot for an early meal. A young employee (around 19, Black female) took my order at the speaker, which went fine initially. However, when I pulled up to the payment window, things took a turn for the worse.
Without a single word, eye contact, or any verbal acknowledgment, she immediately signaled with her hand for me to pull forward. I had additional requests—nothing complicated, just asking for water cups and ketchup packets—but she acted as if I was a major inconvenience. The entire interaction felt dismissive and rude, making me feel awkward and hesitant to even speak up for basic items.
In fast food service, especially at the window where you’re face-to-face with the customer, the professional standard is to greet or at least acknowledge the person paying. Relying solely on hand signals without any communication comes across as impersonal and unprofessional. It soured what should have been a simple transaction.
While the food itself was standard Whataburger quality, the poor customer service overshadowed the visit. Early morning shifts can be tough, but basic courtesy shouldn’t be optional. Unfortunately, this experience has me rethinking my go-to spots for breakfast runs. Hope management addresses training on customer interactions—it’s these little things that keep people coming back

I see a young man with an iPad outside, so I’m assuming he’s standing outside to take orders and as I’m about to pull up he walks away and when I go to order at the speaker, I don’t hear anything for 3-5 minutes, so I pull up and let the girl with the headset that nobody ever spoke to me over the speaker to take my order and she immediately started giving me attitude, even though I was respectful to her. Once my order was ready, very rudely, she handed it to me and slammed the window and forgot my drink, I waited and once she came back and asked me what I wanted and told her she forgot my drink, very loudly went “ugh” and then proceeded to give me attitude again and slam the window.

Not sure why the morning service has gone down hill at this location. We been coming here for breakfast for years. Ms Janice retired and now no one seems to work the front desk to take orders. They need someone to work the front in the morning.

I normally don’t review fast food places but this one is special. The people here are super friendly and address my dad and I by our first names. The place is kept clean and the service is excellent. Food is always delivered to our tables hot and fresh. We have been coming to this location for years and whether for breakfast, lunch, or dinner both the food and the staff put a smile on my dad face. Nice to know they have kept the Whataburger tradition going strong.

I come here as it’s the closest to where I live but I wanted to say the only exceptionally employee this location has is Haden. He is always so kind, polite and has amazing customer service. Most of the employees are non responsive, short and do not give you napkins consistently with your order and the ketchup you ask for.
There’s a few ladies I will say that I feel do great too but I cannot remember there names. Haden stands out and anytime I order and know he’s there I feel relieved. The other times I want to just drive by without ordering if I don’t hear his voice. That tells you a lot!
Thank you Haden for being so awesome!
(Only giving 5 starts simply for Haden)

Worst manager, worst drive through cashier, and terrible order runner. Oh boy here we go. So I go through the drive through and tell them my order. I have to repeat multiple times what I want for drinks. Afterwards as I’m waiting the runner brings 2 45oz drinks which are falling to the sides and dripping. I asked her to get me a drink holder she then scoffed and said wait 10 mins as she brings the drinks and the food at the same time. I leave and get home. My drink is wrong it was supposed to be a coke and it’s Diet Coke instead. Yay me right? I call and speak to the manager I ask her to have the drink ready for me to pick up since I have to drive 10 minutes to get there. I get back no one knows who I am or why I am here. The manager conveniently ignores me and they just give me a coke refill in the same cup. They didn’t bother to change out my drink to a fresh cup to reduce the risk of contamination… which are against food safety standards . Not my first time being disappointed with these people. I’m sure my comment will be ignored again. So if you come here be prepared for a good helping of disappointment. Coming from someone who worked at whataburger.

Also shout out to back of house they did amazing. You guys are the best! Front of house need to get their shiz together.

Worst burger EVERRRR. I purposely ordered double meat double cheese to assure it would be juicy .
No Bueno. They were not overly busy , no reason for a dried out disgusting burger .
I am a regular and this has never happened .

I work across the street so I was not able to come straight back and speak to mananget , so I called only to be presented with attitude .
Contacted corporate for both the quality of the meal and the horrible attitude of manager . NOTHING .. I have heard NOTHING.
I will never return , even to purchase gift cards for my co workers . And word of mouth goes a long way. This particular one I will stay far away from , it’s mostly about the principle . Don’t treat your customers like garbage , most especially the ones that constantly would give you business. adios

placed a curbside, waited 30 minutes to receive my order because the employees here are incompetent and can’t use basic reading comprehension so they hand out the order to the wrong person, and then they proceeded to forget the drinks, and once we were given the drinks, they forgot the straws. no clue how a simple order could take longer than 10 minutes but looks like this location will find a way to make the wait longer than it needs to be. didn’t receive an apology from anyone at all during this entire interaction, what great customer service. i love u whataburger but this location gotta go ngl.
