Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn’t help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we’re still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.
Circa-1950 fast-food chain for counter-serve burgers, some stacked with multiple patties.

I had a very disappointing drive-through experience at this Whataburger. I sat at the ordering speaker for at least two minutes before anyone came on to greet , I started to think yall were closed. The female employee taking orders was extremely difficult to understand, communicated poorly through the speaker, and came across as unintelligible, disrespectful and disengaged. This young woman said that I could not get the option I wanted without onions and encouraged me to go with a different selection. She failed to provide the total for my order or clear direction on which window to pull up to, which made the interaction frustrating and unprofessional.
On a positive note, the young gentleman at the second window who handled payment and handed us our food was courteous, helpful, and a pleasure to interact with.
While the food and drinks themselves were delicious, the initial customer service experience was poor enough that it left me unimpressed and hesitant to return. The front-end communication and attitude at the drive-through need serious improvement.
On February 23rd at 2:20 in the morning, I went through the drive-thru and placed a very simple order: a #20 Bacon & Potato with grilled onions and jalapeños, a large Dr Pepper, and a sausage on a bun with no egg, add mayo. I was polite, knew exactly what I wanted, and did not create any issues.
The employee working the drive-thru made rude comments about my presence because a delivery truck was there dropping off supplies for the week. He stated that “the only time this customer ever wants to come through is when there’s a truck.” For clarity — customers can absolutely hear what is being said inside the drive-thru, even when the window is closed.
Even after I politely requested condiments in the bag, there were none included. I had to go inside to retrieve them myself. At that time, there were only three customers at the location — two inside and I was the only one in the drive-thru — so it was not an overwhelming rush situation.
I understand that receiving deliveries while operating a drive-thru can add pressure. However, that is an operational matter and not something that should be taken out on paying customers.
This location’s nighttime crew needs additional customer service training. Basic courtesy and attention to detail should not depend on how busy or inconvenient the moment may be.
Worst experience I’ve ever had a drive-through. Today is 10-24- 2025. It is 1:20 AM.
The person who was at the drive-through was a man and he was nice and then out of nowhere….Some woman interrupted and was extremely rude with an attitude that they will “get to me in a minute!” as I was completing my sentence for a breakfast taquito.
I think the person in front was confused by me or something… that was extremely weird and extremely rude !! For NO REASON. ♂️
Whoever is on duty at this time needs re-evaluate their happiness or sadness ♂️
I will not be back!! That was the WEIRDEST most insulted I’ve ever felt, especially at a drive-through, and for no reason !!
As I called tonight to ask who the manager was, she wouldn’t give me a name, AND HUNG UP ON ME ♂️
The absolute WORST experience I’ve ever had at a drive-through. WEIRD!
Why me?
The cashier who rang up the order is named on the receipt, and they were extremely rush-ful with the ordering process & was talking way too fast trying to cut off what I was wanting to say to edit the order & kept trying to end the order because it seems like he just doesn’t want to do any more work than he has to & a previous time I’ve encountered them, it was the same situation, but I didn’t think much of it & kept on with my day. But you really can’t be serious with how horrible of a choice it is to put someone like that to interact with customers consistently & expect to have customers expressing “good service”. Everyone else seemed nice, but the order was extremely wrong & they didn’t even follow the actual order that was on the screen for them & added bacon to my burger & left the tomato that I tried to request to be removed & also added cheese when I didn’t want it, & it’s genuinely the most ridiculous mistake I’ve ever seen any grown man in a drive thru make.
Nobody else could care less about how bad your day is to be quite frank unfortunately, so don’t let it out on people, especially in a job you CLEARLY don’t want & CLEARLY can’t handle. There’s no reason to project your little tantrums onto people who don’t know you. I’ve seen kids in lemonade stands give better customer service than this guy. Please refrain from interacting with this dude.
They also didn’t charge us correctly, but I suppose that’s another fault of the little angry man in there.
To then call the manager and she flat calls me, the customer, a liar??? I am not one to ever call and complain or leave nasty reviews but for a manager to straight call a customer a liar when I have no reason to lie.. do better.
This location will never see me again and will steer any and all away. I’Il drive the extra distance now to go to a different location
I ordered my food fresh as I watched Apuza pack my order and let it sit for over 20 minutes and they had the nerve to hand me food that’s been sitting after I ordered my food fresh Brennan is running around the store like a Chicken with his head cut off because the night time manager doesn’t want to do her job. Ex employee or not I’m a customer and I wanted my food correctly when I ordered it not a half hour later
