Social Profile:

Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn’t help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we’re still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.

Circa-1950 fast-food chain for counter-serve burgers, some stacked with multiple patties.

This is a great location! Everyone was friendly and the food was excellent. Highly recommend the spicy burger as a triple.

Super messy but delicious.

Love this place. However, on the app it says Minute Made Sugar Free Lemonade when ordering…but when you go through drive thru or inside it just says normal Minute Made lemonade on the fountain that is being served. Not good if someone has diabetes or another reason to order Sugar Free.

The orange and white makes me hungry, but I’ve learned to be patient when I choose this Whataburger. This location is open 24 hours, which is rare in the area and something I really appreciate. The fries are great, and the spicy ketchup is a perfect match for them. They make wonderful shakes, and it’s one of the few places where you can still find a real malt. I’ve also enjoyed their biscuits and other breakfast items, which are surprisingly good. The burgers are delicious and satisfying, though sometimes they feel like a slightly better version of Sonic rather than something special. What really holds this location back is the speed and communication. Orders often take an incredibly long time to complete, and it’s not well communicated. Going through the drive-thru often ends with being asked to park somewhere and waiting far longer than at other similar spots. Even so, there are things that truly stand out about Whataburger, and I’m glad to have one in the area. It’s a great place for late-night meals and hearty burgers, but the slow service keeps it off my regular list most of the time.

Not sure about the rest of the day, but I’ve had to leave the drive thru 4 different times now, for breakfast. They either don’t even acknowledge you at the speaker or the wait is so long it’s faster to drive to another one. I’m just going to have to drive further to another one or go to the Sonic, it’ll be much faster that way.

It took them 35 minutes to prepare our order, and then it was incomplete. My husband went to complain, and after 20 more minutes, they still couldn’t give him the bacon strips that were missing. We were the only customers there. We won’t be going back.

Full disclosure: When Patrick Mahomes brought Texas fast food king, Whataburger, to Kansas City, I was like all other Whatavirgins and wanted to try my beloved quarterback’s favorite fast food. After the first one opened, I waited FOR AN HOUR with seemingly 1,000 other Kansas Citians on a 105-degree day to try a simple burger and fries combo. To say I was grossly disappointed was an understatement. I spent the next two years dissing Whataburger.

Fast forward to 2024, and the newest Whataburger opened in Parkville about five minutes from my apartment so I thought I’d give it another try. Patience worked because there are enough Whataburger around that it’s not a civic event when one opens and there isn’t a mad rush for everyone to eat there.

The Parkville location is a very nice place to eat. The manager and staff exude a pleasant demeanor and make you believe they are sincerely happy you chose to eat there. Even at its busiest times, service is very fast, my food is always made to order, and a professional crew keeps the eating area clean.

My advice is to download the Whataburger app and sign up for their rewards program. It makes ordering and customizing your meal a breeze and you earn free food very quickly.

I highly recommend the Parkville Whataburger!

The service was good and the place was clean. The bacon cheeseburger left something to be desired. The burger was overcooked and the bacon was undercooked. The lack of care and pride in assembling the final product showed.
They were not busy at all so there’s no excuse for delvering a sub par product.

Bottom line: probably fine during the day, but don’t mess with the night shift.

We ordered food at 11:30PM on the 31st of August and didn’t receive our order until the 1st of September at 12:15 AM.

The gentlemen behind the counter was apologetic when we finally received our order but that was on our second trip into the store while waiting in the drive thru. Other individuals had also been waiting for 20-30 minutes.

HBCB was everything I wanted though.
