Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn’t help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we’re still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.
Circa-1950 fast-food chain for counter-serve burgers, some stacked with multiple patties.

When we asked the cashier, Samone T., what types of breakfast burritos were available, we were met with a sharp and unprofessional “What?” which immediately set an uncomfortable tone. When we repeated our question, she replied, “Potato, bacon, and sausage.” My associate ordered sausage, and I ordered bacon.
At the drive-thru window, there was no greeting or courtesy the cashier simply opened the window, held out the tap-to-pay device, and didn’t provide a receipt. The entire exchange felt intentionally cold and dismissive.
A few minutes later, a manager came to the window. The difference in tone was immediate she was polite and professional, and the atmosphere shifted noticeably. The receipt listed Ayana Skipper as the operating partner, though I cannot confirm if she was the manager who assisted us.
The manager handed us our food, and when we requested extra sauces, she instructed Samone T. to provide them. At that moment, Samone T. gave us the sauces with a smug grin that felt deliberately disrespectful.
After parking to inspect our food, I discovered a strand of hair intentionally placed inside my breakfast burrito. Having previously worked for Whataburger, I know this type of contamination is extremely unlikely to occur by accident, especially at the drive-thru stage where employees do not handle food directly.
Beyond the violation of professionalism, this also presents a serious public health and biohazard concern. There is no way to know what diseases or biological contaminants another person may carry, and being exposed to someone else’s hair or bodily material is both unsanitary and unsafe. Customers should never have to worry about coming into contact with another person’s biology in their food.
I have photos and retained the hair sample as evidence for DNA testing and potential litigation. I urge Whataburger corporate to review the video footage from that date and time and address this serious breach of food safety and professionalism immediately.
Completely unacceptable.
I get to the window, they say it’s 18 soemthing as they grab my card, I’m like wait what about the deal. They swipe it without hearing, I said it again and where like “ I’m sorry it’s my first day” or something, I’m like ok. Then they ask for the manager, so I’m thinking they are going to refund me right then and there. No, they hand me the food and say have a great day. I’m annoyed and want to go home so Im thinking I’ll just just deal with customer service to get my money back.
I get home to realize there is no cheese on my burger, all the sauces are .40 each, there are no apple slices in the kids meal, and the tea is all sweet. I clearly corrected them with they reappeared “sweet tea” back to me.
the food was good though
