We had the two-person platter, plus mac & cheese and roast potatoes.
The meat flavours were all very good. The mac & cheese was nice, but incredibly rich. You wouldn’t want to have too much of it. The potatoes were solid.
It was a little hard to spot the sign and it’s tucked away down a long drive. Once there, it’s a nice spot.
Overall, it was good and we’ll be back again some time.
The only let down: we ordered the full rack (12 bones) and were only given 10 🙁 otherwise 5 stars!
The food was tender and delicious, with smoky taste. 10/10. Definitely come back, and definitely recommend this place.
Unfortunately did not meet or exceed my expectations. I have been to several BBQ places throughout NZ.
Reason for my rating.
1. Quantity
We ordered the $155.00 platter. Serves 3 – 4 people.
Upon receiving this platter, it definitely feeds 3 – 4 people entree size plates not proper full sized BBQ meal as I would’ve expected having been to places like Kikas Brazilian BBQ in Henderson who’s platters would double in the portion and quality & also the price being $109.
2. Service.
Didn’t really feel welcomed upon entering facility. Customer service could do with a few lessons on customer focus and communication.
Great venue great atmosphere.
Lovely interior decor and exterior eating area. Keeping in mind this review is my own personal experience with my family. Your own experience may differ and have a different dining perspective.
Hoping in the near future WHAT a BBQ smokehouse review and improve for catering family sized platters at a reasonable price that reflects quantity. Happy to pay 155.00, just show us $155.00 worth of meat .
Taste and flavour on point, moist succulent, tender meat. Just missing the generosity for those who love eating meat and heaps of it!!
Service, however, could be improved. When part of our group arrived 10-15 min late, an unnecessary comment was made. Around 8:30pm we were told the kitchen was closing soon and it felt like we were being rushed. When I went to pay shortly after and asked when they were closing, I was told “as soon as you guys leave,” and only then told the kitchen actually closes at 9:30pm — which didn’t match the earlier urgency.
Great food, but the service didn’t quite match the experience we expected.
There was heaps of food we were a family of 3 adults, teen boy and a child and still had a takeaway box at the end.
Food was delicious and the flavors were on! Atmosphere 10, kept the boys happy playing and atmosphere was chilled.
Service was great, we don’t know local beers so was great to get some good advice from our server on what would be a good drink to choose from.
Couldn’t fault it! Will go again next time we are in town
Friendly people and nice casual atmosphere. Lots of parking.
