The cocktails were a little strong for our taste, but still decent.
While the food and service were solid, the atmosphere kind of killed the vibe for us. Instead of the beautiful view we were hoping for, the space felt a bit dull and quiet. Also, there were no high chairs available, which made it a bit challenging since we were dining with a toddler.
Overall, it’s a decent place with good food and friendly service, but the ambiance and family-friendliness could use some improvement. Would still recommend, especially for the oysters and mains.
Otherwise, very good service, halibut was very good (but tiny for the price tag of $50). Both raw and grilled oysters were very good and so was the clams bowl.
We had friends visiting and wanted to take them to Westward the the epic view and amazing food, but didn’t know if we’d be able to get it (we’re used used to the summer time crowds!) – and we were pleasantly surprised to find they were doing a special popup restaurant concept during Westward’s slower months called “Shut Up Bobby’s”! We found parking right out front, a lot of open tables, so no wait at all.
It’s a very different experience and menu from the usual Westward, but same great view and vibes – and the food was incredible! 🙂 Slimmed down staff and menu – casual/seat yourself setup with a simple menu of chicken or salmon platters and sides to build your own tacos as well as fresh or baked oysters (think QR code on the table/order through your phone and they drop off at your table). But price points were really reasonable ($48 chicken platter with a couple sides and a half dozen oysters added on fed four of us) and the food was fantastic.
I’d highly recommend checking it out – we totally get how tough winter/slow months can be in the f&b industry and love the creative approach they took to keep the lights on and provide an amazing experience!
**fyi they said it’s the same culinary team, but offering this special, slimmed down menu to get through the slow winter – so you will definitely have a fantastic meal AND help support this gem of a restaurant! You can order online for pickup too!
The servers are friendly and prompt, and the oysters were fresh and delicious. We tried several different options and had a few cocktails. They make an excellent Aperol Spritz. We enjoyed the seating right next to the dock in Adirondack chairs not the easiest to eat from but definitely great for enjoying the view.
The same group went again last week during the pop-up for Shut Up Bobby’s, and the experience was night and day. We had absolutely terrible service. We ordered on our phones (the only option at the time), and then waited a very long time. We couldn’t pick the type of oysters and when they were delivered we received next to no explanation about them. We also weren’t given mignonette?! The food from the pop-up was good (the only saving grace), but we were there for the oysters and were incredibly disappointed. They were also out of a ton of items. For this price, having such a lack luster experience is unacceptable. We will not be back.
We ordered the baked oysters ($26) and were told they would be “very large 3 pieces,” but they were much smaller than expected (see photo). Bread was also $8, and when another server said it was complimentary, we accepted. Later, our main server removed the butter we still had, brought new bread, and added another $8 charge to our bill. When we pointed out the miscommunication, she simply said she would remove it without any apology.
On top of that, there is a 22% service charge. For the small amount of food we received, the total was over $100 per person. Definitely not worth it, and we won’t be returning.
