This place is absolutely charming! Everywhere I look there are different materials and pictures and decorations… wood with different finishes and textures that I feasted my eyes on during the few minutes it took my server to bring out my salad. Even the scarred wood panels on the walls just….fit. Then the salad came out. Iceberg of course, but also spinach, red cabbage, carrot, sliced tomato and seasoned croutons. Then came the rib-eye… oh wow. The word steak nearly always makes me think “I could to it better”. Not so this time. I don’t know what kind of crazy sorcery is happening back there in the artisan workshop they call a kitchen, but this has to be one of the most incredible one-inch thick slices of carnivore heaven ever prepared! Tender, juicy, soft, perfectly charred, and full of flavors that belong there like they were ordained by the Almighty; this thing almost made me forget to drink my merlot (which, by the way, is a perfect match for the steak with sautéed mushrooms)! I’ve never has a steak so thin been cooked to such a perfect medium rare or been so tender, and my server even had the presence of mind in the midst of all she was doing, to pour my wine ahead of time and keep it at the bar to breathe! What the heck? Who even has that level of attention to detail? Incredible experience from start to finish. I will definitely be back the the Western Kansas Saloon and Grill in Wakeeney!!

Well all I have to say is OMG, Everything was amazing? I ordered 3 servings of the salmon dinner because it was AMAZING. I have been to high class restaurants that couldn’t even come close to this type of perfection. Tender, Juicy and grilled to perfect (not just a statement on a menu) and the whole dinner was $20, fish, potatoes and salad.

Wow! This place is a hidden gem and must if you’re traveling through! One of the juiciest and tender steaks I ever had! Surpassing even the upper end steakhouses in Denver! Bravo to whoever you have in that kitchen! Also the staff was superb! Kind, quick and helpful! I’ll remember this on my next trip through! 🙂

Loved the atmosphere! Husband had the prime rib and it was so tender he almost didn’t need a knife. I had the country fried steak and it was delicious! This is a must do again for us!!

This was our first time and was pretty good. I had the wings that are awsome don’t change anything, perfect blend of spice and an nice crunchy coating with a side of ranch. The gumbo was spicy and good but would recommend they not cook the rice so long either in it or how it was made. Nice place for a gathering. Nice western themed place.

We all ordered either the Prime Rib or the Rib Eye, both were wonderful! They came with salads and we all had some sort of potatoe with it as well 🙂 We would definitely come back here when we’re in town!

These guys were amazing! I am so happy that I discovered this cute restaurant. The waitress was so friendly and helpful. Even though we came in shortly before they closed, they sat us and served us without hesitation. We were traveling through town and do not have the opportunity to eat good food on the road often, so this place was a gem. The chicken fried chicken was amazing and the mashed potatoes were really good! We also got the appetizer sampler which was delicious, the corn nuggets are a must try! We loved the decor and the western Kansas vibes. Thank you guys so much for having us will see you soon.

We stopped in for lunch and it happened to be Friday! (Which is the only day of the week that they are open for lunch)
We had the almond chicken salad, the works burger, and corn nuggets. Everything was delicious. The burger was so juicy that it didn’t need any ketchup at all! Service was busy, but still attentive. Highly recommend!

As usual, great food and great service. My KC strip steak was amazing and cooked perfect. My wife loved her chef salad.
I’ve been here multiple times, normally with larger groups when my family comes to town. Service is normally great and everything I have had is good – steaks, burgers, shrimp, etc.

We stopped in WaKeeney tonight as we’re traveling west on I-70. We searched the internet for the best place to eat while we’re here and the Western Kansas Saloon & Grill came up.
We were immediately welcomed in and then waited on by Christie. Our drink and food orders were quickly taken. I ordered the ribeye steak and onion rings (because others had highly recommended them) and my husband had the grilled cheese BLT. The ribeye (and onion rings) met my expectations and then some! My husband’s sandwich was devoured.
Take the time to read the back of their menu and learn about their history. Between the service (thanks Christie!), the food, and the story about the owner purchasing the restaurant, we were compelled to buy a couple of t-shirts with the restaurant name proudly displayed. Don’t miss this gem!
