It’s not much to look at, but the food is excellent. I got the breakfast special… 1/2 order of Biscuits and Gravy with 2 eggs over easy and sausage patties. Those eggs were cooked perfectly! And the sausage was nicely cooked too. Friendly service so I will be back to try their pie. As a bonus, the foyer has a “Pay it Forward” board where you can buy a meal for someone who needs one. There must have been 20 on it. What great customers they have.

There are not enough words to do this hole-in-the-wall restaurant justice. The food is more than reasonably priced, and everything tastes well-prepared and cooked to perfection. Drinks are also at a good price compared to other eating establishments and joints in the area.

Staff was very friendly, fast, and always checked on us, food was amazing, the pie was delicious and has won awards in the past for their pie and fried chicken. I definitely recommend this place, family friendly, reasonable prices, decent portions, over all awesome.

With a heavy heart&great sadness.. [Sighs]
The Original West Union Cafe sadly became nonexistence destroyed by fire on 11/4/2025
My heart goes out to the owner&her staff during this difficult period of time.
Kaycee&her crew are in the process of rebuilding a new cafe
with hopes&prayers of reopening around Easter 2026 of this year or at a later time.
I’m gonna miss the Original Cafe it was home away from home to many folks that passed through Clark County
Kaycee, a great homefelt cafe has been lost by fire..
but with given time&patience a new home will rise from its ashes.
shared memories of the old cafe will be spoken during visits after the new cafe is built by the locals&those of us who pass through this beloved town
giving it a new life with a past&oxygen to breathe
so its Legacy can live on within the walls of a place that we can call our new home.

Cute little find. Service was great. Place seemed clean. We were lucky and showed up on pie baking day! Yes they make their own pies from scratch.
There is a great selection of home style meals. My favorite had been the broasted chicken. They also have liver and gizzards on certain days of the week.
There is seating out side. This place seems to be a gathering place so the waitresses understand if you’re going to be there a while longer. They don’t rush you! They just keep the pies, coffee and sweet tea pouring.
It’s worth the drive.

I had heard how good the food was at West Union Cafe, but we had never had the chance to eat there. We did yesterday and everything that I had heard was true: great food, great service at a great price. My husband had the chicken tenders and a baked potato and I had the 2 piece broasted chicken meal with a baked potato and salad bar. We were there about 1:30pm and had no trouble finding a table, but they were still busy with lunch customers. We were served quickly and our food was hot and delicious. The salad bar had iceberg lettuce instead of the bagged spring greens you see so often recently, with the high price of iceberg. That in itself was a win. He had coffee, I had iced tea and we got a piece of homemade cherry pie and coconut cream pie to go. He said his was delicious and I am waiting to savor mine this morning. All of that for less than $30!
Ya gotta go!

Well we go out for a drive once a week and try and find a good spot for lunch. We went to west union and thought we would love it because it’s the type of place we want to go. The reviews were great and I think the only good thing that happened while we were there was we ran into some family. Which was strange because none of us are from the area.
The following is the reasons we will not be returning.
1. It took me 15 minutes to place my order.
2. The food was not very good at all. The fries were undercooked, my tenderloin was cold as ice because it sat on the counter for 35 minutes while I was waiting on the rest of my order.
3. The order was not correct by any stretch of the imagination.
4. After waiting almost 50 minutes for the order I was trying to pay and I was told to wait 3 times total while they were taking other orders on the phone.
5. It was Sunday but it was not that busy to have received such horrible customer service.
6. Correct me if I am wrong but when you place a to-go order shouldn’t they check it. When I said is that all she said yes and I said that there is no way.
7. When I asked for condiments it seems like I asked for too much. I also asked for the toppings to be put in a separate container and that didn’t even happen.
Good things happen though.
1. I did run into some family that I always love seeing.
2. I got some good pictures of some signs inside the building that were funny.
3. My lovely wife said that her cheeseburger was good. But keep in mind that she eats my cooking. So that doesn’t mean much at all.
4. I ordered a hotdog for our little puppy, after about 30 minutes waiting I was informed that they didn’t have any. I could have made some by that point but I digress.
Be better do better. It’s almost like when you’re ordering something to go nobody cares if it’s even edible. I should have listened to my uncle and purchased the chicken. His looked amazing.

Great food, great waitress, good people. A nice change from Nashville (AKA Nash Vegas) for this French couple.
Thanks again for the deserts, dear waitress, and I hope your husband takes you to France one day! 😉

Even though our first visit was on a busy holiday weekend, I still felt welcomed like family. We had time to relax and half mingle with the other patrons. Our meals were the great home cooking quality I expected. The catfish, I have heard, is the thing to get. So I did. It did not disappoint. There was a very hardy portiin of perfectly fried filets. The mashed potatoes and gravy really hit home.

West Union Cafe catered my mom Celebration of Life dinner. The meal was absolutely perfect and everything mom would of wanted and liked. The chicken tasted just like my mom’s which provided some comfort and sparked some beautiful memories of mom making fried chicken. I appreciate the hard work in preparing such a beautiful and delicious meal. God Bless the staff and thank you for providing a real home-cooked meal just the way mom would of made it.
