You are welcomed to sit anywhere with plenty of options inside, as they have a huge outdoor area with plenty of tables. Following with the service itself in relation to friendliness was good. The only thing was noted that all the servers were just randomly checking up on the tables so it seemed like there wasn’t just one server dedicated to a section, which called for way longer wait times for ordering anything and latent service.
They have two menus but in relation to their crawfish boil menu, the prices seemed very ambitious and high. Is a set price on the crawfish not following the traditional market price which was at that time around $7 and they charged a fixed $12. They advertised jumbo shrimp also for 1/3 @$11 and a full lb @$33. We ordered two Henly’s which came with 2lbs of crawfish, 1/3 of jumbo shrimp with sausage, two corns and about 3 potatoes all for $44each which if bought individually we calculated to be about $47 each.
The crawfish had a set medium spice which was rich in flavor but extremely dry with no juice. The “jumbo” shrimp compared to what I’ve seen at other restaurants were slightly bigger, but not to justify the outrageous price of $33 a single pound. After seeing the menu it would only be justified during their happy hour where it comes down to $15/lb. The sides were cooked to perfection. Lastly the sausage which was advertised at $8 was pretty small but the flavor made it better. Over all the food was not worth the price, compared to the amount of money spent to the price you pay for a whole lot for nothing speaking in portion size.
The flavor made up for a lot of things.
Lastly they have a separate menu that I haven’t tried but I would not go for their crawfish boil. But wouldn’t mind trying other item on their menu.
We always look for places to eat and chill after a long, good hike.. this was close to Pedernales Falls State Park, and glad we found this spot.. outside seating is always a plus, service/servers were nice and attentive.. love the fact that multiple servers came over and asked how we’re doing throughout and if we needed anything else..
Patrons have praised the restaurant’s impeccable service and amazing food. Notably, their boiled crawfish and boiled shrimp are highly recommended. One reviewer mentioned, “Their seasoning on the boiled crawfish is very good.” Another guest highlighted the “really good seafood in a very casual setting,” appreciating the “nice outdoor area” and describing it as a “good family place.”
The relaxed atmosphere, coupled with a variety of menu options such as crab cakes, etouffee, boudin sausage, burgers, po’ boys, red beans and rice, gumbo, and boudin balls, makes West Henly Boil Shack a must-visit destination for seafood enthusiasts.
